RE: struggling and losing faith!

As someone who used to roadrace 200hp motorcycles on courses like Sebring I can tell you that flying a small heli like a blade 400 is orders of magnitude more difficult. A motorcycle without a rider...

RE: What size heli??

I would really recommend scraping up a couple hundred more and going with a 500. The difference is night and day.

RE: T-rex 500 servos/gyro

I'm running Futaba S9650's on cyclic and a GY401 / S9257 on the tail with good results.

Flight logging / model tracking software

If you have any interest in logging flights on your models, tracking cycles on your batteries, that sort of thing, I've just made public a new logging site that is pda / iPhone friendly that lets you...

RE: WARNING HELIS ARE NOT TOYS!

Sorry to hear about your accident. That has to hurt like heck. But.....

you shouldn't be powering up your heli with your dog around either. My dog bit my TREX 600

RE: Neat trick to make NOSE-IN hover easier!

I'm not a fan of any "tricks" that don't work regardless of which way the heli is pointing. They may help temporarily, but I think they just get in the way in the long run. If you have to think "it's...

RE: Getting back in the hobby after a 15 year hiatus - a zillion questions

I'm using a Spektrum 7 with a Futaba 401 gyro. We had some trouble getting the gear switch to work the HH mode on the gyro correctly, sadly I still have no idea which of the dozen things we tried...

RE: Getting back in the hobby after a 15 year hiatus - a zillion questions

Hatcam ROTFL!!! I might have to do that. Every time I moved the heli she panic'd and the camera panned off it.

RE: Getting back in the hobby after a 15 year hiatus - a zillion questions

Thanks for the input everybody. Had my maiden flight with my new Trexx 450 today. Wife isn't the greatest cameraman, she managed to pan away every time I did anything more than a basic hover, but I'm...

RE: Suggestions for a good park flyer?

That mini ultra stick looks pretty interesting.

Gah, the park zones look cool too. LOL guess this will be a harder decision than I thought, but in a good way.

RE: Suggestions for a good park flyer?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Sorry for not coming back sooner, but I have email notification on and hadn't gotten any emails so I thought nobody loved me. :(

I'll take a look at all the...

Here are my ideal specifications:

RE: best way to flip from upside down during autorotation

From a simplistic theoretical physics point of view a roll would be better than nose or tail over. Nose or tail would require rotating mass that is much further from the CG, which would need more...

RE: Getting back in the hobby after a 15 year hiatus - a zillion questions

The park is out of city limits so that's at least one less political agency to worry about. [8D] A number of people use the park to fly park flier airplanes with no issues. They are all responsible...

RE: Getting back in the hobby after a 15 year hiatus - a zillion questions

Yeah, I've thought a lot about going that direction, but really the fascination for me is more with the mechanics of the larger versions.

RE: Getting back in the hobby after a 15 year hiatus - a zillion questions

Very helpful post, and nice website. The 222 is the heli I'm most interested in scaling. Not finding much in the way of fuse's for it yet though.

You bring up some good points, and you're right....

RE: Getting back in the hobby after a 15 year hiatus - a zillion questions

Thanks for the info. Read your thread and watched the video. You're nuts to test fly that monster in your garage. :p

An interesting option you point out. I might have to pony up a bit more for...

Getting back in the hobby after a 15 year hiatus - a zillion questions

Ok, bear with the long-winded post, just skip to the questions if you'd like.

First, a not-so-short but I'll try to be brief history. In the late 80's and early 90's I flew airplanes 2 to 4 days...
