RE: Exceed-RC 2.4 Radio System

I am thinking about buying the same radio instead of the 6EX mainly because the receivers are only $15 instead of $100 for the Futabas. That's where it all starts to add up!

Hope you get a reply....

RE: Monokote or 21st century Coverite

Wow Oldscale, nice job. Do you weld the seams with solvent?

RE: Telemaster 40 Servos?

Yeah - probably a good idea. I just thought that the smaller servos would look better since they hang below the wing on this model.

RE: Monokote or 21st century Coverite

I just covered my 2 meter glider wing (open spars) with new MK using the Hangar 9 iron (with sock) for adhesion and a heat gun for stretch finishing. I'm really happy with the performance. Minnflyer...

Telemaster 40 Servos?

Can anyone advise on whether micro servos like the HS-81 (instead of the recommended HS-322) would be sufficient for the ailerons and flaps on the Telemaster 40? It'sfaster but a little less torque...

RE: Cessna 182 arf

Oh man, I don't want to crash this Cessna. I am putting hours into it - here's the wing under construction. I can't belive how close I got the tolerances for polyhedral and washout.

RE: Good brushless setup for GP RV-4 40-size kit

Well it is 800 KV so they recommend 6S. Iplan to put two3S X2300 in series to start with because I just bought them for $30 each. I figure I will average300 watts (slow flight beginner) so around15...

RE: Good brushless setup for GP RV-4 40-size kit

I just decided tonight on that very motor for my Telemaster trainer which is about 6 lbs. I almost went with the 42-40-1000 but agree with Bass in that I can always throttle back, especially in that...

RE: Cessna 182 arf

Thanks TSHARK - I'm in the middle of building the Top Flite 182 kit but decided to stop and build the Telemaster trainer first. I'm new to powered RC but plan to learn on that one first, then move to...

RE: RC Radio for beginner

Good thread people!

I am also new to powered flight and have a 72 MHz 5 ch radio without buddy box (I like the radio even though it is a cheapy included with a foamy!!!). After flying with him, my...

RE: Brushless delta or wye wound - how to tell?

Thanks Jeff,

I'll look for the wye stub you described.

There is a difference in low end torque and upper RPM between the two winding types. I believe the delta provides higher torque but lower...

Hey thanks JollyPopper - great suggestion! I think I just paid $5 for one sock.

RE: Bad Motor / ESC ??

If you shortened, then soldered those connections between the motor and ESC and didn't CAREFULLY clean all of the varnish off of the wires, some of the indivdual windings will not get their current...

RE: BL Speed control acting goofy

Does the motor connect with a connector or do you solder them in place? Reason I ask is that if soldered, and they had been shortened, sometimes the varnish does not clean from all the...

RE: cover iron help

It's not normal for the coating to rub off so quickly either. I just bought a new one and used it at "3" without a sock - no problem. Brand is "Hangar 9" for only $15. The quality is quite good.

RE: Gentle Lady Conv. .049 to Electric

I'm not at all convinced that man has the impact on global warming that some claim. The earth has its own much more powerful cycles. It is a good idea to control our pollutants, though. I remember...

RE: Gentle Lady Conv. .049 to Electric

Just went with a prop from another foamy I have - it measures 9X4.

I took it out today but the aileron connector was flakey so I didn't fly it.

RE: looking for replacement

Hi Skater,

From the looks of the aircraft, this 1530 KV motor may work. You can get it from rtfrcairplanes.com as the spare parts to the Skyartec Cessna 182 for $16 with free shipping. I bought...

RE: Gentle Lady Conv. .049 to Electric

Not sure but I think this ESC is very efficient so doesn't dissipate enough power to worry about. It's not vented in the foamies and is barely warm to the touch after a full rundownof the battery. Do...

RE: Gentle Lady Conv. .049 to Electric

Hi Bassfisher,

Thanks for the info. My motor is only about 120 watts maximum. I fly this same setup on a foamy Cessna and it has plenty of power for that. I'm almost done with the conversion so...

RE: Gentle Lady Conv. .049 to Electric

OK - got a lot done today (have to go back to work tomorrow!). After positioning everything I need slightly more nose weight (30 gms?). I still need to build the cone around the motor so that...

RE: Gentle Lady Conv. .049 to Electric

I went with 0.25 after all; just looks more proportional to the mounting holes, etc. The extra weight will not be an issue.

RE: Gentle Lady Conv. .049 to Electric

Ok - the 0.125 (from my 1/5 scale Top Flite Skylane kit) looks strong enough to me unless there's a crash. I think the ply walls would break before the firewall anyway. I'll gusset just the inside at...
