RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

Wiz-UK
The throws that I'm using are as follows. Elevator, 22mm, up and down. Ailerons, 7mm up and down, measured at the wing tip. Rudder, 20 mm left and right, measured at the top of the...

I'll measure mine and let you know. The ailerons are very responsive.

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

The CG as shown on the back cover of the instruction book will result in a crash. The aft CG along with the need for down elevator will not allow you enough down elevator to hold the...

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

Max Throws,
A 12 inch prop will be OK, if you are flying off of blacktop. If you are flying off of grass, it would have to be a well maintained surface.

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

MarvinRobot,
I don't have any video yet. I really like the way it flys. It should scream with a .91 ducted fan in it. Interesting choice. I'd like to see video of that.

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

Pubhi,
Sounds like you had a bad day so I'm going to share my setup with you. You can take it or leave it, but I can tell you that the model will be docile and not drop its nose in a 90 degree...

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?

erin-rob,
Set your mix (rudder to steering servo) to a value lower than 100 %. i.e. 50%

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

Pubhi,
You must have set some kind of speed record for putting this thing together. I can only tell you, that the one I have, flys best with the CG 9.25 inches forward of the trailing edge. With...

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

Pubhi,
Here is something you may be interested in doing. An ounce of pervention is worth a pund of cure, so the saying goes. I put JB Weld on the landing gear under the wheel collar. This will...

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

That will not work on the Keecat. The stab is only .25 inches thick. The Hitec thin wing servo is .39 inches thick, and if you were to drill a hole for the servo wires in the horizonal stab there...

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

Pubhi,
The wing is not made to be taken apart but I think you could do that without much trouble. At least the outer panels. Here are I few pictures of what I've done with the servo wire. The...

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

Pubhi,
Standard servos should be fine. If I used the .75 engine, I would try the Zinger 11 x 8 prop. Remember, pitch = speed. My .61 turns the 11 x 7 APC at 20,000 rpm. Too many r's. You could...

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?

I do like the Keecat but I can't compare it to the Bobcat since I've never had one. The retracts seem to be pretty good for the money. I fly from a very rough field and have about ten flights on the...

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?

This may be of some interest on the subject of pusher exhausts. This is my Keecat with a side mounted engine and a pitts muffler.

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

Jason,
I think its well worth the money. Just be careful of the CG, as I mentioned in an earlier post.

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

Here are the pictures of the tail booms that were requested. The bracing wires were my idea to hold the elevator servo wire in a secure fashion without blocking the down elevator.

RE: Converting a BabyCat 55 to electric

Sarah,
Go luck with your conversion to electric! I don't know if your instruction book is the same one that came with the Keecat, but I thought I would tell you of my experiences. The back...

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

Flew the Keecat again today with about 10 ounces of lead in the nose. This moved the CG forward about 45 mm from where it is shown on the back cover of the instruction booklet. It flew docile and...

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

Turbomc,
I looked at the jetjoe site. That looks really interesting. Good luck to you if you decide to go that route. I set my CG at about 9 inches forward of the trailing edge. I'll give it a...

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

Sure, do it all the time. Just set the travel adjustment of the 2nd servo to zero in both directons. That way no switch or knob can work that servo. Then mix that servo to the primary control servo....

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

Turbomc,
What kind of radio are you using? The steering servo needs to be on its own channel. The reason that I mention this is because you said that you needed a reverser to change direction...
