RE: Does this mean no maidens @ Sanctioned Event?

When I used to fly IMAC contests, there usually was a safety inspection...but it surely made sense with a field full of 33% + sized aircraft with 100cc+ engines.

While I kinda agree with K-Bob...

RE: Does this mean no maidens @ Sanctioned Event?

Well, you guys better stay clear of IRCHA. It's just as much a funfly as a trade show. New helicopters are taking to the air every minute of the event, as well as newly repaired ones. Many new pilots...

RE: spotters while you fly

RE: AMA & FAA Discussion Forum

Thanks for the update SilentAV8R...

I can't help but notice how the usual "chicken littles" such as DbCisco and his ilk are awful quite all of a sudden :)

RE: Models can be Autonomous y/n

AV8R,

I respect your opinion, but could you please explain how the control system used on a given aircraft makes it a model or not? I can take any model you have on your shelves and put an...

RE: Models can be Autonomous y/n

All this talk about defining "autonomous" is even more so.

Let's keep our eyes on the ball.

RE: Models can be Autonomous y/n

Here's what I don't understand: Why does the control system of a particular model dictate if it's a hobby or not? Hobbies come in all shapes and forms, electronics, sizes, etc. All I see here is a...

RE: 3D flying

Ya'll are offering rational suggestions to appease irrational people. I would bet that they don't have any clue what any 3D maneuvers are called, how to define it, etc. They just don't like seeing...

RE: FAA under pressure to open skies to drones.

I can agree with this...

However, in the eyes of the AMA, if someone did show at a field with it, and flew it in autonomous mode (especially heads down FPV), they would be in violation of the...

RE: FAA under pressure to open skies to drones.

Actually, that's not even accurate. To my knowledge, the now defunct Cyber Defense Systems got one of the very first Experimental Airworthiness Certificates from the FAA back circa 2006 for their...

RE: FAA under pressure to open skies to drones.

The point is (again) that the DraganFlyer is not marketed or sold as a model, as you put it.

I agree with a lot of your points, but your argumentative nature over semantics is painting you as...

RE: FAA under pressure to open skies to drones.

The DraganFlyer is not considered a model...at least not their higher end stuff. Those things generally go for $18,000.

HPI Baja Forums and Baja Planet Down??

Has anyone else been able to get onto the HBF or Baja Planet forums at all tonight? It seems odd that BOTH of the main Baja forums went down at the same time.

RE: NOTAM for Atlanta, GA - I'm Flyin Mad!

Make your bed and sleep in it, is all I care to say.

However, these TFRs have been going on for several years, since 9-11. It's just taken the AMA so long to discover the internet and how to use...

RE: Is 55 pounds extremely critical?

Yes, it's very critical. The moment you lift off the ground weighing more than 55 pounds, the Earth's magnetic field will reverse, and a time/space wormhole will appear at the spot you broke ground....

RE: FAA under pressure to open skies to drones.

I know the idiots in the media won't let the term go, but PLEASE stop calling them "Drones". Drones are remotely piloted aircraft meant to be shot down as targets. UAVs, or UAS, are not "drones". As...

RE: T-maxx 3.3 vs. Baja 5b ss? Can anyone help?

Interesting. This is completely opposite from my experience. My engine is sparkling clean inside, as seen from the exhaust port and spark plug hole. I don't know what you mean by fouled up. I have...

RE: T-maxx 3.3 vs. Baja 5b ss? Can anyone help?

I live in an apartment at the moment...so I went with Coleman Camp fuel (White Gas). It's for all intents and purposes odor-free, burns incredibly clean in the engine, and makes excellent power. It...

RE: Which 2,4 Ghz Radio?

I have been running a Spek DX3S on a rock crawler. The range on it is very poor (about 100 yards). A Baja can cruise 100 yards in about 5 seconds. I decided to opt for the Futaba 3PMX on advice from...
