I assume you got this worked out. I can assure you, you didn't get a "dud". I am fairly confident you ran the engine too rich for too long and the sleeve is gummed up, and/or not properly...

I say 'special' because this darn thing has a chunk missing from it's piston, the sleeve of course is scratched to holy he**, and the drive shafted is scarred and uneven. . While I'm still learning...

Yes. I am more than sure about that. Currently we have no purge thresholds and over750 databases (yes they are normalized). Configuration data probablyconsumes 2/3 of that with ~ 3-4 billion records....

I would not concern yourself TOO much with temps. However, 300 is pretty damn hot and willing to bet your tune is much too lean.
