WOrked on it again today.
Borrowed a megatron starter and its now behaving much better.
Still not hand starting well, but with the compression release buttons, the electric starter works great!

I don't think it's for crank case pressure.
This tap is in the reed block....that black piece which hold the reeds. It is between the carb and the reeds.......but I may be wrong.

Looks like I have a compatibility issue.  The AR9000 is DMS2 and the 921x is DMSX.....heading to RC Hobbies.
