From what I understand, grooving stock tires and cutting stock rims narrower will help tires bite better and locking at least the rear diff. helps loads with traction. I haven't done anything to mine...

It would probably be easier to buy the wheels separate from the tires. The dye I have needs to be boiled. Tires might come unglued while trying to set the dye. Not sure what melted glue would do to...
