RE: C-160 Transall

Not good!
I would start with alcohol but the problem is that you wont know until you spray.
If you scrub too hard the paint will start to come off.

RE: C-160 Transall

I havent had a problem giving them money. They love to take it.
I have had many problems getting support from them after I did it!

RE: RE: C-160 Transall

Here is mine. This plane came with the built up wing which I assume is stronger.
Now all I need is for the weather to break.

RE: C-160 Transall

Any long time heli pilot will tell you that the GSP org doesnt give a crap about customer service. All they want is your $$$ and someone must be giving it to them. They have been around for years.

RE: Need some help finding a wing for my Texan

I used a JR 4131 on each aileron. We also sealed the gaps.
Both ailerons came off at exactly the same time.
I will see if I can find the tape and upload a video of it.
I used Robart horns and...

RE: Need some help finding a wing for my Texan

For those that have looked at my photos, Do you think the ailerons were too big?
We did our best to secure them and yet they still bent and destroyed pins in their attempt to leave the wing.
Any...

RE: Need some help finding a wing for my Texan

The picture shows the wing after the first crash and before the second.
There are wood caps on the leading edge of the aileron and trailing edge of the wing.
The GS nylon hinges were epoxied and...

Need some help finding a wing for my Texan

About a year ago I became the proud owner of giant scale Texan.
The plane had been crashed due to the ailerons coming off in flight but it was repairable.
I got it ready for flight and on the...

RE: Anyone have a GP Lancair Wing failure?

The field is in good shape. The runway is slightly elevated and dries quickly.
The club owns the field plus rents another one.
Hunters have not been a problem but maybe that is because it is...

RE: Anyone have a GP Lancair Wing failure?

I appreciate your input John.
I think it is safe to say that I used enough epoxy.
It wasnt that joint that let go.
The 2 piece plywood joiner split cleanly in two.
The plywood ribs at the end...

RE: Anyone have a GP Lancair Wing failure?

I cant say that I was abusing it but of course I could do things to lower wing stress.
I suppose that I could take off, fly around and land but how much fun would that be?

I think Dick T....

RE: Anyone have a GP Lancair Wing failure?

I flew # 2 today. The YS91 certainly performed better!
The wing stayed intact but does show some stress wrinkles that concerns me.

Anyone have a GP Lancair Wing failure?

First I have to say nice job to DESERTPIG on his review. I completely agree with his tips.
I had two to build.
The first one had the Saito 91 in it. It did very well swinging a 13X7 three blade...

I had two to build.
The first one had the Saito 91 in it. It did very well swinging a 13X7 three blade prop. A little more engine would have been nice.
On the third flight the wing exploded and...

Soft mount vs. Hard mount

I used a soft mount for my G62 and a friend of mine used a hard mount for the same engine. Why?
Because we each talked to "experts" that claimed that was the way to go.
So what is the scoop guys?...

Covering Help

Try this idea at your own risk. We use it to shrink the covering on some helicopter blades and it works amazingly well.
Take a tea pot full of water and bring it to a boil.
Hold your plane over the...
