RE: PIGGYBACK LAUNCH CRADLE PICS

So when you're taking the tug/glider combo aloft, do you try to climb like a rocket immediately after takeoff, or do you circle in a more gentle climb to gain altitude? I have a Kadet Sr with a ST...

RE: asphalt runway

We have 2 asphalt runways, 40' X 400'...we regularly have airplanes run off the ends but with a runoff area it's usually not that big a deal. We seal the runway every 3 years or so. We get the...

RE: field separation

OK, I met with the county today, along with the other users of the area (trap club & dragstrip). I explained the risks to everybody if our planes start showering down out of control, possibly caused...

I'm meeting with the county Thurs...the meeting was not scheduled over this issue, but the guy we deal with wants me to...

RE: field separation

My understanding is that these guys specifically DON'T want to fly at our club...the old story about not wanting to be part of an organized club and having to pay dues. However they are on county...

AMA safety code says there should be minimum 3 miles field separation...does anyone know if there is an FCC regulation regarding operating RC transmitters within 3 miles of a chartered flying site? ...

RE: Engine mounting in Fiberglass fuselage?

Try to make contact with some of the suppliers of Q40 racing planes; they should be able to get you some photos about mounting engines/mounts in a FG fuselage. It's not a real difficult task, just...

RE: ANYBODY FLYING A DYNAFLITE BUTTERFLY ANYMORE?

I flew mine this morning...I'm normally a "fly low, fly fast, turn left" guy, but going out thermal hunting is pretty fun too. I've had mine for about 5 years now; it's powered by an old OS 15FP,...

RE: Easier to build? - Shrike 10 or Sig Wonder?

I have to agree-I've built 'em both and I think the Wonder is easier to build. The Shrike construction is just kind of weird, not really difficult but plenty of opportunity to screw things up. Just...

RE: What kit? - 2M Glider Towplane

I'm using a Kadet Senior, with ailerons, powered by a ST .75; it easily tows a 100+" slope soarer. When putting a larger engine on a trainer type airplane make sure you can get a reliable minimum...

RE: Butterfly II conversion to electric

I can't help you with your electric conversion, but I do have a recommendation for you before you start building your plane. I have one that I built exactly per the plans/instructions and put an OS...

Kadet senior as towplane

If you were going to build a Kadet senior as a towplane what kind of modifications would you make to it? Alos, I've read the posts about the polyhedral sailplanes not working well with a towplane,...

RE: 2 NEW SHRIKES

Has anyone ever seen a 40 size Shrike with landing gear? I would like to put one together, but I fly from a paved runway surrounded by rocks/desert which are pretty rough on a belly landed plane.

Thanks for the replies. I just happened to be looking through the most recent AMA mag and saw their ad for plans service; every plan published in Model Aviation since 1975. A quick look showed at...

where can I get a QM15 kit or plans?

I've become enamored with the old QM15 planes. Are there any kits for these planes out there? Or plans? All wood construction is OK with me.

finishing a foam warbird

I'm not a combat flyer but have come into possession of a Warzone P47. I've read somewhere about covering in ripstop nylon and painting. Can anyone elaborate?

RE: How accurate are GPS?

I've used my GPS while driving in my truck and the speed matches my speedometer perfect. I also used it while flying in a Piper Archer and felt like the ground speed it gave me was accurate.

RE: Thanks Duane-endurance race

Yeah Dave, I'm sure it is the same Art Smith. He is from somewhere in MN and retired out here to western CO. He is a real asset to our club and is just an all around good guy.

Thanks Duane for the coverage of our endurance event in MA over here in Grand Junction. We had a blast flying it and are planning on having a couple events next summer.
