RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

Thanks mogman. I'll keep the top edges of the fin and rudder flat as you say and round off the others.

Regards

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

Thanks Dan,

I expressed myself badly on the subject of rounding off the edges on the tail surfaces. Actually, I have no problem with the shaping of the edges using long sanding blocks etc. ...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

Hello DD,

Thanks for that thread on rounding off the tail feathers. I've been following your posts with interest. Hope you finish your S/W this winter and get the first flights over and done. ...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

Dan (RCPilot100),

Thanks for all that advice, experience and photos. I still shudder to think of rounding off all those tail surfaces.

Sig must have sold many 1000's of the 1/3 Spacewalker...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

Mogman, thanks for the reassurance on the landing gear. I like that idea of yours using a small stong spring to replace the elastic bands.

As a matter of interest what engines are you using to...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

Dan,
Thanks for that useful information. I'm planning on using a gasser---either the Zenoah G38 or G45 or even one of the lighter Gas engines like MVVS. A lot depends how much weight is needed...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

The instruction manual for the 1/3 Spacewalker calls for the rounding of ALL of the edges on the elevators, stabilizer, fin and rudder. Has anyone actually done this?

Surely the trailing edge...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

Thanks for all the info. As a matter of interest did you install the servos as shown on the plan or did you locate the elevator and rudder servos to the tail?

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

Hello Eftat,

Well done! The Spacewalker looks terrific.

I've just started to build mine so am many months (?) away from flying. Can you tell us more about the model, like what type of...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

Hi DD.

Thanks for your reply on the Spacewalker build. I'll keep an eye open for any further posts on this thread.

Wonder what happened to all those other builds that were taking place?...

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker

DrDeath. I'm interested to know if you have completed the Spacewalker yet. Followed your build and all the other interesting posts and have often wondered what the final outcome was. Am considering...

RE: Does anyone out there have any experience

Thanks Dick Hanson. Does anybody actually own one of these motors on this forum? Be interesting to get user feedback. Apparently the exhaust bolt spacing is the same as for the 180 glow version...

Does anyone out there have any experience

Does anyone out there have experience with the new Moki 180 GAS motor recently marketed by the Hungarian company. Is it much heavier than the glow Moki. Comments on the electronic ignition etc and...

RE: 1/5 Pepsi Chipmunk - Build

Hi Randy,

Moving the CG back has also almost eliminated the 'fishtailing' on my model. In calm weather it's non-existant but seems to show up slightly in windy weather. Visually it flies much...

RE: 1/5 Pepsi Chipmunk - Build

Randy,

The old pull-pull system for the rudder uses thin braided nylon covered wire. CG is now slightly (1/4 inch )to the rear of the main spar...maybe I'm to far back?

RE: 1/5 Pepsi Chipmunk - Build

Congratulations Frank!

Glad to hear the first flight went OK.
What sort of rudder control do you have...pull-pull? For a while I've suspected the flexing of the steel wires to the rudder as...

RE: 1/5 Pepsi Chipmunk - Build

Randy,

The CG shown on Apache plans appears to be conservative. I feel the model is now flying a bit better with the rearward CG. Some 'up elevator' trim apparent on model at rest. Fish...

RE: 1/5 Pepsi Chipmunk - Build

Frank,
Mine came out nose heavy with all engine options. With the Laser 150 it balanced just in front of the mainspar and that's with the battery (1700 maH) behind the wing. I have since added a...

RE: 1/5 Pepsi Chipmunk - Build

Flown the chippie yet, Frank?

By the way what fuel proofer do you use? I find that the synthetic oil glow fuels are hard on paint work!

RE: 1/5 Pepsi Chipmunk - Build

Same thing here Randy. CG on main spar would appear to be too far forward and, as you say, running out of elevator in the flare. Especially noticeable on the bottom of loops.

RE: 1/5 Pepsi Chipmunk - Build

Apache supplied steel rods for 'push rods'. I used them both for individual rods to each elevator half, ie two servos for elevators...overkill I guess! Pull-pull system for rudder. Tail wheel...

RE: Sig Rascal 110! Who's Got One!

Hugh,

Could you please let me know where you bought your Rascal 110. The large Sig kits are not generally available in the UK such as the 4 Star 120 etc.

Thanks
