Congradulations! The Easy Star is probably the best first plane that you could buy. Tough, big, easy to build, can handle some wind. Experienced flyers often like one to have around as a kick-back...

5-10 mph. As a beginner try to fly in as close to no wind condtions as are available. Early morning and late evenings are usually your best bet.
