RE: Going Slow is The Way To Go - Tamiya CR-01 Resource Thread!

LB,

It actually does steer - I was surprised. I only locked the rear and was able to get over everything I wanted. I just did not want a huge turning radius. I might lock the front as well.

I used the TLU-01 - wanted to keep it all Tamiya - well kind of - the ESC I needed to get it done so forgive the Tazer.

The caster blocks on the axles kinda got me - but I got them...

RE: Going Slow is The Way To Go - Tamiya CR-01 Resource Thread!

LB,

Been awhile - but I got the Land Cruiser done. Nothing fancy - just used all the stock stuff and a Tazer 12t ESC. Took it out and it was a blast. Oh yah - I added lights as well.

No pic, but if you look at Mark's you can see the three holes in the CF rear shock tower - put it in the middle. Really helps the bounce. I also use 30w in the front and 27 1/2 in...

RE: ROCK CRAWLER !!!

RC MAD RAY

Get the Crawler. But if you like super realistic and bounces like crazy and has the cool three speed - get the Hilux. If you really want to crawl - stay with the Land Cruiser.

KBurns

It won't turn as well, but if you are bashing, just glue them and you will be good to go.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

mark_y,

I would put the rear shocks in the center hole. I have had mine for 5 years now and have found that to work the best. In the top hole the truck likes to bounce over itself and laying...

RE: Going Slow is The Way To Go - Tamiya CR-01 Resource Thread!

Agree - The central gear reduction is cool.

I also like how that package the truck. Looks like the old packaging job in the 80's. The body and the side rails are on display the minute you open...

RE: Going Slow is The Way To Go - Tamiya CR-01 Resource Thread!

Lunch,

Got mine yesterday - the box is huge.

It is going to take me a while to build though - kinda in between moves and don't have the space right now.

You get yours?

RE: Which one of these Tamiya's to build?

The WW-2 uses the Blackfoot extreme tranny and the LB uses the Grasshopper chassis - sort of - with bigger tires.

That's right you are road racing - keep forgetting that. Yes you have to use a knife to shorten the clutch. Each section you take off will make it act more like a stall coverter -...

I use the 885 - works very well. With the 18, I use 52/13 or 14. The 12 is too high and is sluggish off the line. With the 885 I use the 3rd hole stock setup and it is very linear...

I saw it for the new E-Savage and found that it fit. I hated the rear end treatment, so I cut most of it off and made it more custom for me. I usually run the Dodge ST body.

Had this thing...
