RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

I have a 32 ounce tank in my 24 lb. Fleet and fly at one-half throttle most of the time. I usually limit my flights to nine minutes and land with about ten ounces remaining. I hope that helps.

RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

Tom, I finally finished my replacement Concept Fleet. If you remember, I totaled it last April. This one came out a bit heavier than the original. It weighs 25 lbs. 6.5 oz. It's funny what a bit...

RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

Engine mount holes in a firewall requires a 122mm diameter. I measured the radius of the engine from the center of the prop shaft to the top of a cylinder and it is approximately 4.5 inches, so you...

RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

Just an update on my ASP 4.00 powered Fleet pictured above. I've finally covered and painted the fuselage. With paint masks an decals from MODELGRAFIX (excellent products), I have added the lettering...

RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

Fair warning. You have 400 hours!

Hobby City has the ASP 4.00 on sale for 702.86. Twin engine radials are nice. Get two.

RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

I really don't have a suggestion for you Mike. I'm winging it myself. I was always taught there was no substitutuion for cubic inches. Besides, you are probably going to need some ballast at the...

RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

My Fleet PT-6 is coming along. The engine is mounted along with the cowl. I had to cut about two inches from the firewall end of the Fiberglass Specialties cowl and then fit the front section around...

RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

Thanks for the information, but I ordered some adjustable reamers from Enco Tools that will take me from 3/8" to 17/32".

RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

Sorry, I meant 17/32.

Anyway, that would be larger than the size you mentioned. The prop nut with the sleeve that goes over the threaded prop shaft measures approximately .526".

RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

It's not permanently installed. I just screwed it to the firewall and since the mounting holes are symetrical, you can rotate it any way you want. Good eagle-eye though.

RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

Kmot,
I have to break in my ASP 400. My friend drilled two props for me but they are a bit off center on the back side. Before I ruin any more, do you have a source for a prop reamer, 7/32", that...

RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

I don't know if anyone made this comment before, but it sure looks like the guts were subjected to some abuse via corrosion in this engine. I would expect the inside to be much cleaner on an engine...

RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

Tom,

If I'm such a bleepin' genius how come I can't read the manual? I know, I have to take a course in German.

By the way, as the picture shows, you must remove the engine mount before...

RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

Thanks for the quick reply. I have to re-cover the Fleet and paint it first. I got it for the bare minimum cash outlay (FREE), so I couldn't pass it up, although the garage is getting full. But...

RE: ASP FS400AR Radial Engine

Kmot, can you make a recommendation for the fuel mix to break in a new ASP 400? I've been reading almost all of your posts on your ASP 400 and find them quite interesting. I'm almost afraid to run...
