Something that would help is pictures of the motor shaft set up and the strut at the rear of the boat. Being able to see them might help me see why the shaft won't come out

Okay, that means the receiver got soaked. I would go through the instruction book(s) and see if there is a way to rebind the receiver to the transmitter. If not, you may have to replace it.

That sounds like either the speed control or the receiver, depending on it's drive system. You said the engine got soaked, so is this boat powered by nitro fuel, gas/oil or batteries?
