RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

Another way to add some right thrust is to program a mix in your Tx. In some ways this is better. It is what many of the TOC pilots do. Put 1% right into the engine mount with a washer and the...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

I personally do not prefer the bolts. I bought two axles for my Edge because I had some wheel pants that were already set up for the axles. Just personal preference. Ron

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

Jon, I am with you on moving the engine up. I thought about that and decided no way. I will fly it a few more times the way it is and see how it goes. Ron

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

Jon, good job. I am using a 15x6 after starting with a 14x8. I think you will like the landings a lot better with the lower pitched prop.

Where do you have your CG set. I am at the factory...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

Nathan, stick with it, you will get your Edge up when the time is right. At least that is the way I look at it. I had hoped to maiden my Edge well before today, but things just did not work out,...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

Well, had to go out of town for work all last week so I have been absent from the thread for awhile. I did my maiden this afternoon and I must say this plane flies great. Very stable on all planes,...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

ez, if you get the Katana, consider the new 70 size Accel has, versus the 40 size. It is a great plane! I have flown both and I really like the stability of the 70 size plane. Just a suggestion. ...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

Well, I did not maiden my Edge today. Was all set to, but decided to fly my FuntanaS 40 first to warm up. I was on my second flight and just coming around (about 75 feet off the ground or so) on a...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

I broke in my Saito 100 this evening. It runs great already. I hope to maiden my Edge on Sunday if the winds calm down enough. 20 gusting to 30 is too much for me on a maiden flight. I will keep...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

ez, I might take you up on that offer to make me a belly pan. I need to see how the factory one works out with my velcro attachment method. If I do not like it I will let you know. I like what you...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

ez, excellent job on the belly pan. I may end up building one myself. Were did you get the covering. Was it you that mentioned you got some from VF? I attached my pan using velcro and it looks ok...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

rcfury, I got the idea for the lettering from you. Hope you do not mind me copying you. It was a great idea. The type of lettering I used allowed me to wet down the wind with soapy water so I...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

Hey, thanks. I cannot take much credit for the good looks. The plane does most of it. This cowl material is so flexible I can leave the muffler tight and still get the cowl on and off. I won't...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

I am pretty much done with my Edge and I must say it is a nice looking plane. By leaving the carb in the original position on the Saito 100 I did not have to route my throttle linkage around the...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

Brad-A, I used a Saito 100 and the stock muffler. I had to cut away a fairly big hole, but it does not look too bad. Not sure what your muffler/engine setup entails, but I assume you cannot cut the...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

I considered using the theaded inserts, and now that I have done the dowel install and have seen how thick the wing root end is, I believe threaded inserts would work as long as you sesured them with...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

lots of salted added to water
put water and salt in...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

gbdvorsky: Thanks for compliments. It has been a fun build so far. Some trying parts, but overall fun. The only part I think VF needs to machine to finished specs for the ARF is the tail faring. ...

rc it looks like you are coming along on your build. I had the same problem with the hinge points, a couple of mine made bumps in the covering too. I was real...

RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build

Bankyank, sorry to see such a warped fuse, but glad to hear VF is sending you a new one ASAP. My build is coming along. Only a few hick-up along the way so far, all my doing but easily fixed. I...
