RE: Sukhoi SU-26 MX build

I have an ABS cowl available if anyone is interested... three pieces are glued together, joints are filled and sanded, even cut out the louvers (see post # 617 this thread for a picture). Also ABS...

RE: Sukhoi SU-26 MX build

Thanks - would've liked to use it, too bad the rest of the ABS cowl is garbage. Same with the belly pan - by the time you cut the stock bellypan to fit, it bends so easily it doesn't even seem...

I only cut out the five large slots near the rear of the bellypan and a hole for my muffler pipes and haven't had any overheating so far.. I think they call for more holes on the bottom of the cowl...

RE: Sukhoi SU-26 MX build

I cut the slots out on the Sukhoi kit-supplied ABS cowl with an X-Acto knife and it came out great, then I ended up getting a fiberglass cowl. The fiberglass cowl can't be cut out easily as the...

RE: Sukhoi SU-26 MX build

I use the metal wing mount screws - they have come out on the way to the field from vibration in the car (screws were only halfway in) but during flight they have been tight. McMaster-Carr...

RE: Sukhoi SU-26 MX build

Here's my finished product; thanks to everyone who posted and helped along the way. Maiden flight was successful with only a couple clicks of down required. I'm not a very experienced pilot but for...

RE: Sukhoi SU-26 MX build

Thanks again..

Did you close up the triangular cutout on the front bottom plate (under the tank)? I think leaving it open would let airflow in the nose and up into the fuse from under the tank....

RE: Sukhoi SU-26 MX build

Thanks for the info. Planned on some rails under the servo tray, maybe I'll look into making it removable. Already did that with the tank plate as it severely bends with the loading from the rubber...
