Just got rid of the pictures that showed how i went and wrecked a good set of clutch shoes before i got it right,

I have kept the pictures that show me doing the mod the correct way on page 2

The diffs are real hard to open but i held mine with a pair of vice grips and gave it a real good heating with the gas cooker,

you will know if there hot enough as the screws come out so easily...

If you carried out exactly as i have you`ll be getting third everytime,
i was almost giving up on my gst`s 3rd gear [:@] but when i tried this mod it worked perfect
now for allout speed it is...

The teflon is used to help prevent the clutch shoe from breaking up at high rpm

i don`t actually think its necessary as i read in a cen forum that the mod had been carried out without teflon
...

I had mine shifting before i done the mod
but it wasn`t very good as it would not always hit 3rd gear
with the wheels of the ground it would always make 2 shifts but 3rd always came in very late...

i had the third gear set at 7.5 turns out but tightened it up to 6 turns out as it was comming in...

filled each diff right up but after a few tanks of run time it all frees up

so its not as hard as you would think to get diff movement still have the front wheels pulling when i nail it

...

Do you have the center diff lock fitted ?

I had it in mine locked for about six months but got tired of the truck flipping over every time i would give it some gas

until i made a wheelie...

You could also use a 4mm hardened bolt in the same manor if your hardware store has them

I would really recommend a hardened piece of metal as it seems to have the right weight to it and mild...

I used epoxy but it wouldn`t stick unless i sanded the shoe and the teflon but its stuck well now

poo i think you have been too cautious with the weights in the clutch if you have a hardened...

I`ve tried it all before and it don`t work without weights in the shoes

unless you have got a all day and a football field to get it to...

i lightly clamped it on a pair of grips being careful not to mark it

i drilled on top of a block of wood and used the grips more for to stop the shoe spinning, hope it goes good for you

I think jb weld will work just fine,

also dont be afraid to cut up a 4mm hex wrench as i did for the weights

the stainless bolts i used previous were just a little light for the job

...

On seeing the new clutch against the old one i noticed that the center of the old clutch had grooves in it

this was due to the adjustment holes on the clutch bell having a burr which ate the...

DISASTER after 3 tanks of fuel the clutch would just start slipping like mad in third

so after a call to the hobby shop for a new set of clutch shoes i set to it again

I bored 2x 5mm holes...

I think once i get some real fuel through it i`ll take it apart

and take a pic to see how its doing but for now its the perfect solution for me[8D]
