RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

It depends on which wind the 540 motor is. Look up the specs of the motor and find out the KV rating. Compare this number to one of a 540 S Brushless motor.

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

Your setup is not really open to a wide variety of options. You want to upgrade but there will be a limit to what you can do. The stock hardware and transmission can only take so much power. You...

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

Any budget? Do you also want to run 3s?

I have several of them on my laptop that I created. Problem is there are several variables that all effect the load of the motor. These variables...

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

This thread will be updated in the next couple weeks with additional information, small wording changes, spelling corrections and a new catchy title to better catch the eyes of New Boaters.

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

Thrust bearing is placed between the 8mm coupler and motor mount or motor can. This way the thrust is transmitted to the motor mount or motor can.

Ideal situation for a stinger - bring the...

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

If your battery is the only component that is getting hot, it is easy to see what is the weakest link in your system. If a battery is getting too hot it can not provide the amount of continuous...

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

For nitro conversions you follow the same order as what is listed. Start with the hull size.

Use 6s or 8s LiPo
A motor from hobby king should be on the lower end of that range listed for kv...

Buy the wood - 3/16" ply and glass them in at proper width and on center.

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

For my Neu I have the 8mm version. May as well get the one that has the stronger material. Your motor will also provide a large amount of torque.

No experience with those mount, I would email...

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

The Lehner 2250/9 would be a pretty close substitution and is European. I would still prefer the NEU for performance. The lehner is probably still expensive for relatively the same motor.

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

You will need the 75mm turn fin. They allow the hull to turn and track in corners. They should be placed perpindicular to the bottom of the hull. From the rear it will be on an angle pointing...

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

I have seen the boat else where. Brodjack is correct. You will definitely want to look in to swapping the drive hardware as well. .187 Flex shaft to a .187 prop shaft would be ideal as mentioned...

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

If you want to get some good speed out of that hull I would recommend going with a Neu 1527 1Y. That will allow you to start with your 48mm prop and work yourself up to the 52mm/3 prop. You may...

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

Typically for a hull around 42" I would recommend 8-10s LiPo. If you wish to run 6s2P that could be made possible as well but it may not have the potential 10s would provide. Both batteries can be...

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

The speed in the video is excessive. Boats like that are no fun if they constantly flip.

If you plan to run 3s LiPo I'd try and find a motor with just a bit less kv. Something around 3200 or...

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

I'd use a Neu 2215 in that size hull for reliability with a Hydra HV180 and 10s. Try to get the opinion of others as well as a hull this size will be expenive and you want to do it right the first...

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

Sorry, not familiar with that hull.

Depending on how large this hull is and what kind of budget is set will determine the system you may want to look in to. I'd start comparing the size of your...

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

Your motor is 2370RPM per volt. That is 53000RPM unloaded at the prop. You need half of that. If your ESC did not burn up your LiPo's or motor would have.

Look at the chart I have on Post...

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

The same size motor running at 11.1v/80A would make the same input power as running at 22.2v and 40A. Watts is a measurement of Power.

What is the kv of your motor? Running on 6s, it should...

RE: Choosing an Appropriate Fast Electric Setup / NON-RTR

You will need a lipo capablr of providing at least the minimum amount of current you intend to pull from it.
