the reason i'm thinking about the roll control set-up is while in hover (0 air-speed) my jet rolls or spins with a slight breeze.. and it is not hard to control the yaw and pitch part but you cannot...

the rookie's set-up is basically a gimble ring that will let the pipe swivel left-right & up-down.. tamjets used to sell this one.. he might still..

this is about the same (yaw and pitch) set-up as what me and most guys are using and is now being offered as an option with the comp-arf rookie2 kits..

i have seen guys use a vane/paddle system for pitch and/or yaw before that seemed to work good.. like these>.

good idea.. i love it.. hehe- hovering over a monocoter.. the pic 1 is a v2 rocket...my plan is a less obstructive version.. nice idea about the edfs also.. you want to still be able to go mach.5...

very similar to the set-up i'm using now.. i made a 2 axis/gimble ring to fit the stock rookie pipe... that one looks nice tho..

this 4 vane system, at the exit of a short tail pipe/nozzle/ring added behind the engine at rear of fuselage, would give the jet roll axis control by twisting the thrust blast into a spiral either...

this will add roll control during hover as well as yaw and pitch.. may try this on my rookie 2.. what do you think?
