RE: Engine for Funtana X50

Mmm....

As for the showtime, yeah I would have either put a 1.20 or 1.50 in that, so yeah, a 1.50 probably would have been better then.

Personally, I would mount the motor sideways so that...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

Hmmmm ???????
Pass. [&:]

Personally, I can't see why it would over rev ? [sm=72_72.gif]
You'd need to re-tune it (alter the mixture needle) whatever prop you changed it too anyway, and...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

Hiya. :)

You should be ok with the standard landing gear, - it was designed with larger props in mind than the original Funtana. (apparently)
Mine swings a 14x4W (Wide blade prop), and there...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

Hiya. :)
Yeah, the .46 will be well underpowered, - I know, as that's what size I first tried mine on before removing it and getting a .91 FS, which in my opinion is just about right.

One or...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

Mmm.....
I can't get the Tru-Turn spinners in the UK anyway, and would have to get one imported.
I've checked the prices of them before when I first got the Funtana, and they are pretty...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

Mmm, tell me about it.
I tried to fit an alloy spinner, but as it's a 4 stroke, it has a tapered-fit extra locknut, and theres not enough thread left to fit an alloy spinner nut on it after that...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

I'm just using the standard 11oz tank that comes with it.
I also only get about 9 or 10 mins.
I'm happy enough with that though.

Great, at least you didn't have to do any mods then to get it...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

Yeah, I see what you mean.
I can't remember having any problems doing mine though, but it was about 20 months ago, so I can't really remember

The only way round it then, would be to cut...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

Great !

There's nothing hard about it, you just have to think it through :)
Someone on here has managed to squeeze a 120 in theirs !!! [X(]
Mmm.......bit overkill if you ask me !

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

I mounted my 91 Four Stroke on an aftermarket plastic Irvine mount, cut into seperate halves to allow enough room between the bearers to be used.
I knocked out the original mount captive nuts, and...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

Yeah, I can't think how the hell the X50 would perform at all on a .36 2 stroke ? [&:]
Maybe a .36 Weston with a power pipe ?
Who knows, but that would be the only way I can think of !

When...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

Ah, righty ho :D

I haven't flown mine for a couple of months.
The weather here isn't too good now that winter has set in, plus I've not really had much time either.
I don't like the soggy...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

If you can be bothered to read through all the pages on this thread (which is too many for my liking now, but I've read them all ages ago lol !) then there are a few people that really rate the YS...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

My Funtana X50 has a Thunder Tiger F91S 4-stroke.
I found it to be perfect power wise, & just right.

It's a big motor, and I needed to put my 2500 mah nimh pack as far back in the fuz as poss,...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

I planned on getting the longer arms for my servos, but never bothered in the end, as the regular ones give me almost max throws on mine, and the roll rate is plenty fast enough !
Plus the rudder...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

With regards getting extra glowplugs, just in case you didn't know, you will have to get special fourstroke glowplugs - not the regular ones that you use in 2 stroke engines.
The difference between...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

It's not just a case of overpowering it, but fuel economy comes into play too from not needing to use as much throttle as a smaller engine.
Plus, you can always throttle back on a bigger engine,...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

Strange ? [&:]

I've never had a plug come out mid-flight, nor heard of it happening either.

Can't have been tightened properly, and probably vibrated the rest of the way out ?

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

I don't know about the Tribute, but I don't think it would be much lighter than the Funtana ?
I know that the Tribute is supposed to be ok for a .36 ! - I wouldn't bother though, I'm...

I suppose you can still get a decent amount of manouverbility without having to go to such Aft CG...

RE: Engine for Funtana X50

It only weighs about an ounce less than my .91 FS then, which I am suprised about.

Did you have to add lead to the tail to balance yours then ?

I had to shift the (heavier 2400mah) battery...
