If a club doesn't keep at least a couple of trainer planes on hand it's really tough to pull new people into the hobby. My club, which Thomas B is also in, uses trainers that the club members own....

Oh and BTW, the fact that most clubs require AMA membership is in no way a deterrent to the growth of the hobby. Most hobbies have a national organization, and many aren't bothered in the least by...
