Wish I still had one. Had about 5 seasons of very enjoyable flying with Patty. Still think it is one of the best looking ARFs ever. Great Planes did it right.

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

You will enjoy the plane. I'm not a fan of that engine, especially these days with so many inexpensive gas choices, but it will do fine.

I like to use metal gear servos on the rudder and...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

I no longer have my Patty. I kept her flying 5 years with the excellent replacement parts from Great Planes and having picked up a couple new kits at great prices. I lost airframes to various cause...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

I tried to put her on a diet back in the day. CF gear, spinner, prop, tail gear, smaller tank, etc. But I could never break the 15lb mark, even with the 210 Moki. I later gave in and just settled on...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

This plane was built like a tank. She was very strong (still needed the gear mount and firewall attention most ARFs do) but heavy even by the standards of the day. Not a good plane for 3D, she...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

Wish I still had one. I loved that plane. I flew one for almost 5 years, but she was not original. Great thing is, replacement parts were reasonable in price and fit wonderfully.

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

That is for sure. I flew one of these for parts of 5 seasons, and that was several years ago. There are probably still a few NIB around. I'd keep watch, but as stated above, this plane was fully...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

Yes, the same engine. As I recall, I used a Mezlic 22 X 8 on it.

As far as Chief goes, sorry to hear about your bad experience. I have had nothing but good from them. I have been ordering from...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

Far as I know, they are still available. The Mark is the same engine. Designed where nitro is unavailable, they run well on 0 to 5% nitro. Mine have always run well bre4aking in in the air. Like with...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

Hey all you Patty lovers, how about this? This is a picture my personal plane, on a photo shop background, printed on top quality see-through window decal material, and applied to the back window of...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

Very interesting subject. That would be a popular build thread for sure. I was going by the review I read on the site. The guy had replaced a 100cc gasser with this motor. Said he lost about 2lbs...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

I'm curious, I'm building a 102" P-47. Wonder what the thrust rating is on this setup. It will weigh , or at least it would have weighed with the gas setup, around 40lbs. I could prop it properly on...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

Why such a large motor? From what I read, that size motor is a substitute for a 100cc gas engine (35% aircraft). Twice what the Patty requires for even aggressive aerobatics. I guess if you have one...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

HOLLY CRAP!!! And it looks like the all up cost will be comparable to gas. After reading the review on the engine I see one problem though. It swings a 25 X 10 prop or larger. This will never work on...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

Look, it isn't that hard. Any gas engine like the DL55 has a pump in the carb. Tank location is not critical. I always try to mount it near the CG, that way as the fuel is burned, your plane...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

Don't know if a flight pack per say is the best value, and quality. I use lightweight 2 cell Lipos in the 2000mah range for this size (2 for about $18 shipped), and the Hitec 645 servos are easy to...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

I use the 9303 and it is a great radio. You can do all sorts of things with it to help your flying. Read back a ways and I think it was posted that you will need about 1/4" more than the supplied DLE...

I have gotten all my DL / DLEs on eBay. Many available and usually for about $300.

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

No debate for me. DL55 by a considerable margin. This is because I have experience with these engines and I know their virtues, and I can't afford the pricey DA50 right now. Of those three, I would...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

Unfortunately, I never sold a Patty. I had (4) over the years, and lost them all to crashes. One was battery failure, all the rest were brain failures. No reason why this plane shouldn't go on for...
