Mark, when you do install it, please weight the total, and post a flight report. I HAD to install the smoke system on mine, exactly because of the lesser weight in front (I guess balancing was...

Really? Is that a reliable engine? Your Pitts is a Great Planes one, because if yes, true, they are almost identical. From the CRRC Pro site, the engine without the plug pipes has a width of 186 mm,...

Well,

First of all, yes, definitely go gas with the CE. For the possible engines now:
Manual suggests the Fuji50 (if I remember correctly) which weights around 2Kg (sorry, Europe here) and is not...

RE: Christen Eagle - Building, Alterations and Modifications

Ah, so your real question is about the metal brackets that hold the struts, and how these are holding on the wing itself. Still, never had a problem, BUT, I did have to tighten them quite a few times...

RE: Christen Eagle - Building, Alterations and Modifications

As far as I'm concerned, I NEVER had a problem with the small wood screws provided for the center cabanes. I took very good care when drilling the holes, taping the threads and waiting for the CA to...

RE: Christen Eagle - Building, Alterations and Modifications

I understand and I agree, it is more of an incidence thing than a balance one. What I suggest is trying to balance the ARF as nose heavy as the limits of Great Planes suggest, not outside the limits....

RE: Christen Eagle - Building, Alterations and Modifications

No, you will not have any clearance issues even with a 23 blade. Of course, it all depends on your landings, actually on WHERE you land. On asphalt, you will never have issues, on grass maybe. Always...

RE: Christen Eagle - Building, Alterations and Modifications

As far as I can remember, there is no electric conversion of the Eagle discussed in this thread. The only thing I can tell you is that this ARF needs a lot of weight in front to balance and fly well...

RE: Christen Eagle - Building, Alterations and Modifications

As long as my Eagle is still flying, I'm subscribed. Last flight was yesterday, so go ahead and ask!

RE: Christen Eagle - Building, Alterations and Modifications

From my (not so long) experience, I would propose you to go for the BT50 engine. Exactly because this is the engine it was designed for. I installed on mine a DL50, and it is too light. I also added...

RE: Christen Eagle - Building, Alterations and Modifications

The Great Planes Christen Eagle was as a fact available for back orders from TH a few weeks back, after being discontinued for more than a year, and again now is discontinued. I cannot really...

RE: Christen Eagle - Building, Alterations and Modifications

And when you do buy it, add a smoke system as well!

RE: Christen Eagle - Building, Alterations and Modifications

Read a few posts before yours, and you will find out that I've been through a lot of work to adjust my CE to fly well. And to be honest, I'm still not 100% satisfied. It is the 5th experiment with...

RE: Christen Eagle - Building, Alterations and Modifications

I have seen this video, without knowing it is yours. Very nice, along with the other one you have with the camera recording in front. Very nice flight site as well.
If you could find an incidence...

RE: Christen Eagle - Building, Alterations and Modifications

So, in order to get things working, I thought to begin all over. First task was to straighten the wings, so that they don't have any wash out or in. I can't say that I completely fixed that, but now...

RE: Christen Eagle - Building, Alterations and Modifications

Thank you for your reply GAS4ever. It seems that the more I read over the internet, the more things get complicated concerning biplanes. I found the following articles, that probably originate from...

RE: Christen Eagle - Building, Alterations and Modifications

I need some help concerning the incidences of everything on the CE.
The Great Planes site has them all, but mine seems to differ A LOT. I level the fuselage with the stabiliser at 0 degrees, and...
