RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

You have to "etch" prime it first. I use u-pol brand acid#8 etching primer on aluminium followed by regular primer then paint as usual. The etching primer has some kind of acid that lets it "etch" or...

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

Is hard to tell from the pics but if you think is strong enough go fo it. Just make sure you check it after every flight for a while just to be safe.

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

Hi doug,

After looking at your stabs I'm a little concerned about the strenght on that center section. I've only done it two ways, glue the two halves together and glass the center section or...

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

Just wanted to give you a tip. When making the tool for the soldering gun don't twist it before the "loop" since it will make the loop part colder. The reason is that since you're creating a short...

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

The easiest way to do it is to pin the rails to the fuse using a scrap piece of the canopy as a gauge and attach the mounting tabs to the rails while the rails are on the fuse for a perfect fit.

...

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

I would run the rail the whole length. You can use the router attachment for a dremel tool and cut some of the foam out to allow for the rails.

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

I would get rid off the plywood plate used on the hatch now and build it like the current 40% 300 with a 3/8 square frame. You can place the foam front piece on top of the frame work and install a...

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

Right here, would you like one covered in the patty scheme and ready for paint never flown or would you like a kit with the invoice from 1991 still in the box ?

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

This brings back memories, the first one of these kits I built was in 1991 just after I graduated from high school. If I was to do it today it would have a 50cc engine and the lighest accesoriesI...

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

I use a scroll saw to cut all the lighning holes, tape the two sides together and cut both of them at the same time. As for the spinner. I would leave a 1/4" gap from the back plate of the spinner to...

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

The 30% 300s is very different in the way it builds than the current carden aircraft but you can probably change and build it lighter at the same time. As far as the 85, I think is too much engine I...

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

To be honest it's been such a long time that I can't remember if the tank was in front or on top of the tank but I would try to center the tank on the CG if at all possible. You must remember that if...

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

I don't know of any build threads on this model but I will help you in anyway I can. I flew mine with a G-62 and if Remember correctly it was around 21 pounds but that was with two ni-cad packs,...

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

Nothing wrong with the 30% 300s, you can always build a 40% later on when time and money allows.

RE: 30% 300S mod to mid wing?

I've built a few of these back in the early 90's and they flew great for their time. It will depend on how much you enjoy building because if you do the extra few hours it will take for the mod. will...
