8.4v nihm will work fine and give you a nice boost. This is a great pack for those that don't have a lipo charger or aren't ready for their kids to run into curbs with a 2s lipo pack

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

I think someone on one of these threads said they put a 21 tooth. Sounds crazy but I guess if you can make it work why not. Most likely though anything larger than the 15 will require slight...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

The C rating kind of tells how fast the battery can discharge , the higher the C rating, the more power the battery can dump . The sky is the limit with the C rating. Most of us use 30-40 C lipos....

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

Forgot about the body question. I have a Volcano body on my son's Caldera right now, it's a little small. Not sure about Proline but the Traxxas Stampede body fits good.

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

yes an 8 cell will definitely give you more speed. I used to run that with a 15 tooth pinion on my son's Caldera 10e. You will be surprised at the difference it will give you. I was the same way...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

what battery are you running in it right now? Running the Caldera with a 2s lipo and a 15 tooth pinion will make a noticeable difference in speed.

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

This is good advice for anyone with a Caldera. My son's Caldera 10e would strip diff gears in a heartbeat. The Caldera parts page does not show a upgraded diff set so I ordered the upgrade diff set...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

The steering knuckle is a must for the aluminum upgrade. This will allow you to loctight the screw in. I replaced the knuckles on my sons Caldera 10e 18 months ago, they're still going strong.

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

As far as the motor goes, if your just starting out , running a 2s Lipo pack compared to the stock nihm battery will be a huge difference in power. For the cost of a battery "about $20" this will be...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

Don't rush into a aluminum chassis, or control arms. Yes the plastic chassis will break but only under extreme circumstances. Aluminum chassis's will bend and and twist. I've replaced two 3mm...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

it will be fine like that, the spring will just not rebound as good. when you get the new retainer, put a drop off crazy glue on it at the shaft. also it's not a bad idea to spray those retainers...

Did you check the battery? We run my sons on 2s lipo for 20 minutes straight without it ever overheating.

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

I never have less than two complete sets of diff gears for my sons Caldera on hand. They're not the best in the business.

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

Forgot to address this. Springs are fine for playing around. More than likely the shocks have very little oil in them. You can adjust the dampening to your liking by using heavier or lighter oil. ...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

yes the higher the mah rating, the longer the run times. The higher the C rating, the quicker the battery can discharge making it faster. 25C is about as low as you want, 30C I think would be...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

Glad you found what you needed. I think that bag of screws was a lot of money when you factor in the shipping. When you said "screw set" I've seen actual boxes of screws which include multiple...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

They're talking about changing the gear on the motor shaft. These are called the motor pinion. Then there is the pinion in the differential or diff pinion. Luckily the Caldera is pretty tough out...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

I like it. Fitting your own body and own design is the best part of this hobby. I think people get nervous about painting their own body, but after you smash a few plain old factory bodies up, it's...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

the ground pounder body looks like it fits well. Here's a pic of my son's with a Volcano body. Notice the wheel wells, definately short but I made it work. I thought about using an Earthquake body....

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

I was reluctant to spend all that money on the aluminum one's myself, but after replacing two right front knuckles in a 10 day period I was convinced it was going to keep happening. It's not only the...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

I would recommend the Caldera line for anyone looking for a great priced, sensibly durable rc truck. I don't think you can find a comparable vehicle by other manufactures in this price range. The...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

Well I was just trying to give the other side of the battery story. Some people just aren't ready to dive into Lipo's be it they don't want to deal with the fire hazzard of the batteries themselves...
