RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

If you took one of your rubber orings to a hardware or plumbing store I'm sure they could find a match. They're only holding in the pins: I wrapped a thin strip of gorilla tape around mine (duct tape...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

I've never seen a commercial wheelie bar for the Caldera, but I don't think you'll need one. The Caldera has a low chassis compared to other trucks (i.e. Traxxas Slash or Stampede) so it wants to...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

I'm also posting this to URC, but based on some info I saw on RCtech I tried Traxxas GTR springs and retainers on my Caldera, and they worked! Traxxas springs are very easy to find if you'd like to...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

Public Service Announcement :)

After reading that the Caldera (1/10th scale) had different metal diff parts than the 1/8th and 1/6th BSD's over in the Sandstorm thread...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

If it has only been a month since you bought it, I'd contact Redcat support. They were very helpful when Ihad a servo problem and just mailed me a new one. Or if you bought it from a local shop they...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

Iagree with all of this. The Caldera needs a new servo, and Iwould upgrade the knuckles to metal if only to get the thicker pivot screws (and the ability to threadlock them in so they don't fall out...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

If you haven't done so already, you can take the motor out with the spur still attached by undoing the screws under the spur on the bottom (I think 7 screws?) and the screws holding on the top blue...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

More likely gearing. I think the stock motor is 3500'ish KVand came with a 13t pinion (from memory) and you went up in motor KV and gearing at the same time. I would switch back to the 13t and see if...

URC Review is up! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5U-CGrEN7I) And discussion is here (http://www.ultimaterc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=155499).

Budget servo and tight links out-of-the-box: same...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

Hmm... don't know why the gearbox bearings failed (https://www.mikekirk.org/index.php/2012/07/15/heart-of-the-leopard-2-bypass-surgery/) yet, but a 50% larger motor...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

This reply is a bit late, but:

<u>Short-term</u> - You'll want extra driveshafts since they seem a bit soft, and after mashing your front tires into a few poles they'll bend (BS903-019 - buy two...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

Here's how you stuff a 3674 motor into a Caldera: about the largest brushless that will go in with only minor trimming.

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

You can get 5mm-shaft 32-pitch pinions in the smaller sizes too: I just ordered 12/13/14t pinions from Kershaw Designs. The shaft size doesn't have anything to do with the number of teeth, you can...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

The Velineon will fit if you take the black plastic endcap off (it just snaps on and off). Another option would be a Tacon 3660 3500kv (http://www.hobbypartz.com/96m211-3660-3500kv-7t.html): it's a...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

That's a nice MT2! I hear ya on wanting to do your own thing: but the "value" part of my brain almost compels me to keep running factory bodies until they're more drywall tape and Shoe Goo than...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

Can't even tell it's my Caldera SC 10E: for bashing I put on a Losi Strike body trimmed to fit.

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

It can't hurt to shim the diffs for durability - but they're the same diffs used in Redcat 1/8th and 1/6th models, so they're pretty tough and understressed in 1/10th cars. I don't think it's...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

Baby update: I'm waiting on some Traxxas E-Revo springs to arrive (fit right on the Caldera shocks) and some higher body mounts... but I can still test-fit some changes to my SC 10E:

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

I almost wish you told me you broke the front bumper too...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

Redcat has used more than one manufacturer: I think the 1/8th Hurricane/Monsoon/Avalanche and 1/10 Vortex/Tornado/Volcano were Exceed OEMs, and had some design issues and brittle plastics (somebody...

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread

Spun out and lost to another Caldera SC actually - who went on to take 3rd place overall! Ended up parking it in a puddle which took me offline for 20 minutes while Ilet it drip dry :)
