RE: Maxair Revolution II Velox

Got to maiden the plane today. So far, i'm very impressed with the combo. I would have to say it's got a fair bit more power than the YS 110 although I can notice the added weight. It was a bit...

RE: Maxair Revolution II Velox

Update:

Got the motor mounted last night and the tuned pipe all mounted. Wasn't too difficult..just took a bit of creativity. Had to fabricate my own custom tuned pipe mount out of 1/8" lite...

RE: Maxair Revolution II Velox

Well, here's an update on my Evolution 26GT install. Since i had a YS110 previously installed in this plane, the hole i had to drill for my throttle cable was where my new mounting hole is for the...

RE: Maxair Revolution II Velox

Inorder to balance mine with the 110, I had to put my 6V MiMH pack on the side of the motor box. That was with the rudder servo under the canopy (pull-pull). So that might give you an indication as...

RE: Maxair Revolution II Velox

If anybody is interested, i'm going to put an Evolution 26GT on my Velox RII with the Evolution tuned pipe system. It is a fair bit heavier than the YS, so we'll see how the Velox can handle it. ...

RE: Maxair Revolution II Velox

As for issues with mounting it sideways, the only issue i had was that I had to cut off one piece of each motor mount where it mounts up to the firewall. You can see from my pictures that the mount...

RE: Maxair Revolution II Velox

Troll: I decided to put it on sideways because of 4 reasons mainly:

1) It's easier to start this way...easier to install/remove the glow ignitor. This also eliminates the need for a remote glow...

RE: Maxair Revolution II Velox

The prototype had a 5 cell NiMH and it had to be mounted on the side of the motor box inorder to balance properly. So your setup should be good for a few test flights.

RE: Maxair Revolution II Velox

Any motor that is 30oz or less and that will swing an APC 16x6 at 9000rpm will work great. I did the prototype testing with a YS110 spinning a APC 16x6 on 10% at 9000rpm and the performance was good.
