Default US 72 Mhz to Australian 36 Mhz

Hi, does anyone know if it is economically feasible to convert US radios to the Australian bands ?
I understand that the more expensive radios have an RF module that can be changed to effect this, but I am loath to spend the money without some expert advice first

FWIW - I am currently living in the US, have US radios, and am returning home to Auz in Dec.
Can I convert, or should I sell here and buy back home ?
Or can I buy here with a 36mhz module ?

Can anyone advise ?

Hi Iddons,

The costs of changing a non-modular radio from one band to another can be prohibitive, and many service centers will not even do this type of thing. We here at the US Service Center do not do anything with 36Mhz, so we would not be able to do this for you.

The great thing about modular systems is that it is so simple to change out the module and receiver for the correct band and you are ready to go.

You would most likely be better off selling here and then purchasing a new system at home.

We do not sell any modules or systems on 36Mhz here in the United States.

I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.

Sincerely,
Krysta
