Does your turbine instruction manual state the Spec of the oil that must be used ?
If so, compare it with the MIL spec printed on the tin of 2380.
As far as I know some of the oils meet the same specifications

Hi Tilaco, how you been?
The BP2380 is ok, however I have been bothered with this remark from the JC manual.. Been using Aeroshell 500 since day one, but guess I would change my habits soon:

Hi Enrique, here we are fine!
Did you see the Motul 710 2T oil? Is unexpensive than the turbine oil and you can use in 2% mix.

Harley, Thanks for the correction. I've been away from turbine oil qualification for several years. The mind does funny things during retirement.

We made a lot of testing with diferent oils because the Turbine oil is very toxic and we found out that the 100% synthetic 2 strokes oil is much beter for our turbines, the only downside is if you use too much you can get gummy bearings in cold starts, we are using Motul 710 but any good Brand that meats the JASO FC norm and is designed to mix in 50-1 ratios can be used, just stay away of the ones designed for 100-1 mixing ratio
We are mixing it at 50-1 or 2%

Wonder what would be the result in other turbines.

When you say cold starts you mean how low temperatures ? any recommended procedure for this situation or just the residual heat of a failed start will solve the problem?

Square nozzle,
I know about that too, I have been retired since 2005.
I would rather be back at work.

I mean cold starts as a start up when turbine is compleately cool, like first start of the day, cold temperaturas can make it worse
Here in Mexico we fly exclusively on Diesel and 2% two strokes oil, and some turbines had compleated over 100 hours with this fuel combo (with their regular services of corse)

Thanks Juan for the info, I will give it a try.
btw, these days played with a jet from a friend of mine with a Cheetah... what a sweet turbine, specially at our altitude in Curitiba!
