The Magazine seems to be getting better in its coverage and discriptive nature, I read some of the articles and reviews and was pleased to see some improvements. I guess after a while all things improve and those who contribute get better at their attempts.
Anyway the 20 years of the Micro-Turbine was a nice peice, I liked the background provided from where we were to where we are going. The heads up on the development and the path to it was a real step backwards for me,
The Continental RPV coverage was and old part of my life, just prior to the testing of the turbine I had left a part time position with them. and reading the article made me wonder what happen to those guy's.
Dick Shaper and Lee Byers were killed in a L-19 crash in jean Nv. in the late 80's,
Ross liggett the company owner passed in 84?
Don Minzimer, Don schaffer, Robert Shaver, La'Lani, wonder where they all are now??
There is another RCU member who worked there, I found last year. But how about the rest?
anyone else know these guy's?? just curious

I was trawling looking for photos of the record breaking microjet MiG they had built and ran across your post. It was featured in one of the RCmagazines of the day and billed as the fastest RC of the day.
Richard and Don Schaper were my uncles.
The L-19 crash was 1988

You might have also known Don's son Scott. BIGScott. Couldn't miss him.
I haven't seen Don in ages, Scott for nearly as long.

From theuser uavrcpilot looks like some moved to Hunstville with Continental.
I had heard that Don was in Alabama and probably part of that group for at least a little while.

I have from time to time looked up anything on Continental RPV's just the odd chance that something would emerge. Lo and behold, came across this on Rcu. Have no idea if anyone is still linked to this through their email but ended up getting a few comments on the eye on la piece that was broadcasted about 88' when I was working there for a short while as a kid not far along out of high school. Not long ago there was an interested party asking many internal questions a out the operations and was very limited on what I could supply them aside from a group shot and names. Anyone else come across this? He mentioned he was trying to do an article on the business in general. Otherwise a great stepping stone to bigger and better things with a navy retirement.
