Default Should i buy a JATO?

I am getting a new truck for my birthday and i have wanted a jato for quite a while. i haven't been on these forums for a while so i haven't had a chance to see the pro's and cons. could someone please break this down for me? is it a good basher? what parts do i need to plan ahead on buying? would i be better off with a REVO?

haven't had the chance to tear one up, but i hear they are pretty tuff. if its bashing you want i wouold get the revo which can also be raced w/o mods to tranny and what not. maybe a savage if yer on a budget. the .25 is a nice ride. i'm loooking to add a savage to the garage here soon

i have a jato and the 2 wheel drive sucks in grass but with aftermarket tires it's not bad and sometimes reverse would be nice for just bashing but it really gets up and goes the jato i would say the revo i regret not getting the 4 wheel drive

If you want to seriously bash then get a Savage...The Revo's tough but the Savage is a bit tougher. Revo's alot faster and really I haven't broken much on either but for serious bashing don't even consider a Jato it's a ST not made for serious bashing at all. And yes you will need to change your Jato's tires around the time you get thru breakin...they go bald fast...Also on my Revo I broke the stock rims..they are cheaply made...I also bent my frame from hard jumps 15'+...My Savage all it has ever had happen so far is glow plugs and bodies nothing else seems to fail on it even after I've rammed into it with a 1/6th scale gaser....both revo and savage are easy to tune and start both pretty durable...for support and speed...revo would win....durabilaty..hands down the savage.

Cost between revo and savage are about the same...revo comes with battery pack added...savage doesn't...both need failsafes added...revo also comes with reverse...savage doesn't...even though I rarely ever used reverse on my revo....both have 2 speeds...savage can be upgraded to a 3 speed trans which really gets it cooking

Whatever you do don't waste your money on a crap mammoth by xtm.

Jato sucks for you I guess cause you don't own one and are tired of seeing nothing but its backend with your ST.

badz...my experiances with the mammoth are obviously different from yours...
although, for an MT basher, the Savage can't be beat.

The Mammoth ST looks like they fixed all the things that sucked about the Mammoth, but I'll reserve judgement for when I see one after my Savage nails it at around 40 mph

I've seen some mammoth's break doing nothing at all just driving around some rough dirt they'd break and bend up the shocks...savage doesn't look like it'd be a great basher but it sure does take a hell of alot of beatings....also was kinda shocked when I hit it with my gaser at about 35mph it didn't break....25lbs hitting a savage thats what 6-8lbs....gaser btw broke a front ball link on the impact and cracked front lower control arm but then its a xtm gaser too

Hmm, someone who relies on nothing but magazine reviews... figures. Don't post negative unless you have experience driving the truck at least 3-5 times.

Yeah GoldenPoint!

Don't you know your not allowed to talk smack about the JATO here!

Otherwise the JATO police will come out and yell at you because you never driven it!

Anty, he wasn't defending the Jato, but he's right, unless you've put some wheeltime in it, you REALLY can't judge it.

However, I DO judge it because I hate Traxxas's 2.5 and electronics. other than that, the Jato looks like a nice package.

I know, I just get a kick out of how aggressive the Jato defenders are. Like it's cured cancer, or given us world peace.

Makes me wonder sometimes if some of them are not on the Traxxas payroll.

I myself think that the Jato is good truck, but I also think that you could spend your money a lot wiser.

I totally agree.
$365 is a bit steep....
course $300 is WAY steep for a nitro rustler especially.

I agree the jato is a little expensive but its a good truck. ive flipped my jato doin full speed and it did about 10 flips then landed on its roof, it didnt break anything, ive smashed other things and never broken anything, the stock tires suck but otherwise its a great truck.

I'm just saying that I've done similar things that i've seen jatos do in videos with most of the ST's on the market...i dont see any toughness advantages to the Jato over any other ST.

Yeah, like that "jato=piece of you know what" thread you started that needs to be deleted.

although, i do agree@the 2.5 not being for n00bs, although some dont have any trouble with it.

Once again I agree with you. I wish Traxxas's would make kits with out the engine and I might try one.
