What tires offer the best control on the pavement? I have edges and gladiators not but when i start to get close to top speed i start to lean in one direction or the other due to the way gladiators expand. I don't need speed because i'll have a 22 tooth clutch bell but i want control.

I picked up some street tires from my LHS, I dont know what kind or anything. Proline somethings..lol.. But I have a Question.. Do you or should you have to put in those foam inserts. The Foam inserts that I normally use for off road tires seemed to thick. Do they have street tire foam? or do you just leave them empty?

I run road rages on my jato and a 1/6th scale gaser and only had a problem with them on the gaser...not as far as traction goes but for wear...i can burn a pair off my gaser before i use up a tank of fuel but then your looking at 250-350 laps at non-stop running and asphault temps of around 120+....the road rages on my jato are like new yet 0 wear and grip and work great if your sliding around on them your turning to sharp or have a piss poor setup...or both...don't blame the tire it's a great tire

On road tires of just about any variety are a good setup to go for. I've always been a fan of Speed Hawgs, they work pretty well for me and they will last just about through a gallon of fuel at race pace. You do need to change your setup a little bit for them to work well though. The usual tendencies lean toward off power oversteer and on power push. I find a lighter weight oil and thin limiters inside the shocks settle things out very nicely. They do hook up well enough once they get warmed up to occasionally pull the front wheels off the ground.

I have heard many people just complain about road tires on STs. They say all they do is spin out. This is mainly due to expansion. Two things you should do with road tires is to:
1. Before glue them to the rims, turn the tire inside out and apply a strip of duct tape all the way around the tire. This will prevent the tire from expanding so that the whole tire will make contact with the pavement at all times.
2. Make sure your camber is at 0 degrees so that the whole tire makes contact.
This will make your road tires hook up great. I run my truck at my LHS on sundays when they do parking lot racing. My X-C hasn't lost yet. And I race against onroad sedans. I run Proline road hawgs.

not meant to resurrect an old thread but i have been planning on doing some parking lot races myself,, and it seems as though the speed hawgs are the softest of the bunch,, i myself will plan on getting 2 sets of them,,
btw does that sauce stuff work well for parking lot races..
