hey everyone...i got my jato today at 10:30 this morning....got home at around 12:30....had it broken in by 2:00 and was tuning until about 3:30...the 2.5 is by far one of the easiest engines i've ever tuned...it ran great.....only problem i see with it is the restricted access to the low speed needle screw....you can not get to it the way it comes from the factory....i love how it has the dual battery compartents to adjust weight distibution....also one of the coolest things i've ever seen on a truck is this things gas tank...i know it sounds crazy bt they put a lot of thought into it...not shure if you noticed...but there is walls arond the opening on the tank and a drain hole for excess fuel to go through so you don't get it all over the rest of the truck....idk if its that big of a dealt o you but its amazing to me and saves a lot of clean up time....and also the easy adjustin of the brake with the twist knob...thats a nice feature too....only con....this thing has so much FLIPPING POWER....its rediculous....yeah i know...thats not a con...unless you hate buying tires..lol....i already have my victory tires to the racing slick point....lol....this truck can not be run on four AA batteries though....it just doesn't have enough juice to run everything...you must have a 5 cell receiver pack....
oh and fyi....this thing can take a beating!!!...again and again..i hit my jeeps tire in second gear with nothin but the front left tire and it stopped in its tracks when it hit...didn't break a thing...flips didn't hurt it at all either...or ramping 15 feet or so...this thing is a blast....haven't got a chance to top er out though.....there ain't enough room to do it here...gotta go to the track

haha...i plan on it...this things amazing fast.....a lot of people complain about the handling cuz theres to much power...with tires with tread on them it grips perectly and go's where you point in and tracks straight across rough terrain with ease....i love it

Sounds great! I've been doing a lot of research online about the jato and i must say it is pretty impressive from its specs and the consumer reviews. I am thinking of getting one some time this month (trying to get it as my wedding anniversary gift
), we'll see. Anyways i'm glad you like it, ride on!

badhorsie has some...just get the hump pack is what i think its called....three cells on bottom two on top...i bought mine from towerhobbies for my t-maxx and just used it....i love how you can choose the location of the battery and the builtin charge jack is a nice little feature to....if you order parts online go ahead and get some tires.....the victories go fast on pavement with this much power....the manual even has a warning for it....one thing that was wierd is that the product catalog that come with it doesn't have the jato in it at all and the break in dvd doesn't have any jato stuff in it...kinda funny...traxxas needs to make a new video...lol

i did everything the dvd said i used Traxxas 20% top fuel, and the ez start didnt work, so i got a pull start, i have had my carb at every possible freaking setting and the best ive gotten is it works ok but wont go past 3/4 throttle it stalls at full throttle, my local lhs is runned by a really nice patient guy who is great but i can never get the carb right and it bothers me and now my high speed needle came of and wont go back on...

Sounds like you stripped the threads out of the throttle body.... Instead of just messing with needles go to factory settings and change the high speed needle first only 1/8 turn at a time. Make sure you know if its to rich or to lean (it takes some experience to know how it sounds but look for smoke... lots of smoke means its rich and no smoke means its lean)
I do have a racing backround and I find the stock tires to be trash especially on track
. Of corse any tire is a good tire for bashing though.

You buy a flat 5 cell not a hump pack unless you plan on running it in the tail end or wire tied on someplace....don't listen to people who don't own a Jato...Jato doesn't use a hump pack like someone recommended here....they jury rigged their Jato to use a hump pack cause they didn't READ THE MANUAL...most Traxxas models don't use hump packs.....Go here or get a flat 5 cell pack...same as Revo uses.

Uhhh isnt the hump pack the same weight as the flat pack. Yes you can squeeze a hump pack in the back but its so tight in there that the first time you smack that back box on a jump it will strip the screws in the top of the box. I put a flat pack in the middle and lead weights in the back for traction.

Hey, this is going back to the original post by supersly jones, I agree with everything he said! THE JATO IS AWSOME! i dont know why some people judge the jato before theyve even driven one, my back tires are already bald, and i got the truck yesterday lol. i got some road rages and hpi rims and they work really nice.

yeah i bought some dirt hawgs to get me by till my towerhobbies shipment....everyone is very quick to judge the jato..which sucks but hey...w/e....it hasn't been out long enough for any major race wins....the rc10gt has been out forever...but yeah i ordered a set of rpm clawz....speed hawg tires...camber and toe in gauges....badhorsie shock covers....
its pretty crazy...some of the stuff i've done with this truck i would been making a trip to the lhs to get some new arms and stuff....this thing is strong...kinda scary...i get so worried when it flips 8 or 10 times oblong...but it usually lands on its tires and keeps going.....its like a cat...i just hope i haven't use up many lifes yet
lol

The Jato is great. I've only had it not even a week yet, but driving it is definitely an awesome experience. And this truck is tuff as nails. I slammed into a T-Maxx around 40mph head on, and only busted a turnbuckle. Didn't bother me since I was buying the red adonized alum. set the next day anyway.
I would love to know how to make this thing a tad less squirly on dirt though. Turning on dirt has to be so slight, that a hair too much will send the rear end out. I've read so far that new tires would probably help a little, but was wondering if changing toe and camber angles would help at all.
Everything aside, I give it a 4 out of 5 stars. [sm=thumbup.gif]
