How many people actually race their savage on a track? Could be your small local track...doesnt have to be huge event but im curious on how many savage owners actually go out and race their trucks after all the shock and LCG mods and high perf enigines. Re****s would also be great to hear.

It has been a while since I race mine do to racing my buggy in a point’s series. I am hoping to do some club races with it before the sessions is over. I did quite well with it when I was running it on the local track here last year, which has since closed.

A Savage can make a fine track vehicle if prepped properly. The problem is that hardly anyone preps them for handling and performance, and the average Savage setup won't cut it on the track. Once you get it right and you get your driving skills honed, you have just as much of a chance as anyone else. It's not cheap, but it's fun.
I've raced mine in the past but it hasn't seen clay in a long time... it's going to make it's comeback this summer though. My LST2 is my backup truck

When the Monster Truck class was big i use to take my savage out every weekend. I have a pretty good race ready savage. Then when everyone started to go to truggies, they would have us run with them sometimes. It was easy to pass them, but hard to keep up in the corners.
The savage isnt a race truck by any means...
But there where alot of us out there. and for the most part the savage domanted the MT class. But then again its an issue of being completely out numbered for the class as a whole.

I don't know why most tracks don't run a "real" monster truck race....as in like what you'd see at a Monster Jam event or at the monster truck shows we have all attended at the county fairgrounds, local dirt tracks, etc. This type of racing is, I believe, more representative of what a Savage and other 1/10th-1/8th scale monsters are capable of. I'd sign up to run my truck in that type of racing in a heartbeat, but sadly, I've yet to find a track that offers it. They are foolish for not doing it-it'd be a hit with the kids/teens for sure and us older folks would enjoy it too. I know I would. The racing that www.rcmonstermotorsports.com holds at Digger's Dungeon and other locations is absolutely drool-worthy.[8D]

I would be board to tears on that diggers dungeon track. The two tracks I go to one runs a MT class and the other will probably have us run in the truggy class. Which is the reason im getting my savage as rdy as possible to kill the truggys. I wanna make a savage center diff lol could you imagine

A single speed center diff setup would be nice, and I'll probably build a Savage around one sometime in the future, but it's something that would only come in handy if you HAD to race the truggies. The only way a CD is legal in the SMT class is if it's housed inside the same case as a multi-speed transmission. The only readily available multi-speed transmissions that allow that are the Revo and CEN setups. The Revo transmission isn't up to the task, and the CEN unit is just too big and heavy.
