starting system

Pull start. It's not one of your choices, but after having dealt with a roto start, I appreciate the simplicity of the old fashioned pull starter. Of your choices though, I'd say roto start.[8D]

Pull starts can be a pain at times because you can develop blisters on your hand and you can be tugging on that cord for quite a while if you don't have your engine tuned properly. If you have a good tune in your engine, sure, 1-2 pulls you're good to go. However, if your pull start breaks, it's an absolute PITA to fix, ultimately resulting in buying a new pull start. It's never fun to wait on that kind of part in the mail. Roto start is convenient, but I've had problems with the roto start chewing up my one way bearing. EZ start does add weight and if your EZ start runs out of battery, what's there to do? I say that the best starting method, bar none, is the starter box. It allows you to run a dead backplate on your engine which is not like pull/roto starts where the backplates produce "drag" in the engine, slightly diminishing performance. The starter box may be more money and something else to carry around, but anything to start my engine quicker without hassle is what I'd take any day. The starter box directly turns the flywheel which makes starting times much shorter. Like I said, if your engine has a good tune, I'd go with the pull/roto start. If your tuning is a little iffy, then go with the starter box to save yourself the hassle.

starter boxes only work on certain vehicles designed to use them so they are not the best option I have to say the pull start is the way to go, just like said before you have to have you motor in good tune, but isn't that what we are all shooting for anyway. roto starters are junk I have 2 of them and still use my cordless drill

I have an xss, had a pullstart on it, i didn't mind tugging on that thing at all. The blisters hurt, but i got over it. Then, i guess i pulled to hard on it and the chord broke. So instead of getting another pull starter, i got a roto start, and I love it! I will never go back to pull start if i have the choice, its just so much easier. Of course if you mind carrying around the roto starter, then go for the pull starter, but I don't really mind that, so I love my roto start.

I started out with E Z Start on my T-maxx as my first truck. I have to admit it was pretty convenient and it never failed on me. It does weigh a bit but it was cool, then I bought my Savage 25 with the roto and it was my first time using an ignitor. I found it slightly less conveniant but nontheless it doesn its job without failing either. Then I bought a Sirio .18 for my Maxx which was pullstart only.... Oh boy lol..... First day during break in my hand was so blistered it was completely red, thats cause I wasnt used to it but nowadays its pretty cool. I prime it with 5 quick tugs, and stick the igniter on and it starts in 2 pulls cold. I like how conveniant it is since your only carrying the ignitor, I hate worrying when I go bashing away from home that my Roto batteries will die on me[:@] What sucks is that most of these 7.2V starter batts are NiCad and they lose they capacity after about a year or so and I dont feel like buying new ones. Ive had every type of starter, thats MO on this topic, Tom.
