For those who have fitted Jet-1A retracts and struts into a Boomerang, can you let me know how much work is involved in fitting these and how easy it is to make a decent job.
My concern is the position of the wheel well in relation to the "raked" strut once it is in the retract position.
I am cheesed off with constantly bending the wire legs on my very wet and muddy field, plus I have just put a P80 and a 2ltr tank in place of a Supersport and a 1.5ltr tank, so the increase in weight is playing havoc with the tiny wire legs and 2 inch wheels.
Many Thanks

Peter,
This may help, it is my post #1831 on Re: new Arf Boomerang14Lbs thrust forum
You will see it is a Robart strut on the nose wheel, however still using the Jet 1A wheel cylinder.

Here is my experience with the XL:
There will be some modification to the under belly to get them to fit. Obviuosly, the cut-outs are made for straight gear, so you will have to notch out for the bend of the Jet 1A.
Also, you will want to dry fit the retract so you can mount it in such a away that you dont have to cut out the wheel well (too much). My gear is actually mounted at a very clight angle (not straight across) which is no big deal because you can position the strut to face any direction. This was done to limit the amount of trimming around the wheel well.
The final "problem" is the plastic cups were not deep enough for my wheels (3" intairco on the mains). I had to cut out the bottom of the white plastic wheel wells.
It is not too bad, and well worth the benefits of the Jet 1A retracts.

Guys, this link will tell you everything you need to know;

If your Boomerang is an XL2, the U/C mounting blocks are more substantial than those shown in the thread and will require some work from the Dremel.
Tim.
