Over the years, I have tried a plethera of battery systems in jets that have all worked out.
I have used Nickel Metal 6V systems to 7.4 Lipos with regulators.
Now I am going to 6V Nicads (for the servos) for the simply reason that
1. weight is not and issue
2. It may be old school, but the technology is pretty reliable!
Chime in anytime with your thoughts.

I do use a Lipo on my ECU for the fantastic capacity (16 flights without changing). However, for the time being I am sticking to nicads for my flight packs for the time being. One reasons is that I need the weight right where the battery is, and the second is that I have difficulty accepting the need to insert yet another electronic device ( a regulator) in between my battery and my receiver......

Case and point - thanks for the reply.
Point being that too many products now offered that may be easy to use and reliable, but second guess the direct circuitry of a simple system.
I myself use a lipo for my ecu and redundant 4800 mah fromeco's on my bandit arf- fly ALL day long without charging.
I am at completion on an BVM F100 and going with the K.I.S.S. approach (NiCad) for my servos/ rx system and Nimh on the ecu.

I typically only run nicad or nickel and top off at the field for extra insurance. I have read these comments about running lipo batts and "flying all day" with out charging. How do you guys know what the exact limit of those batts are ??

You have an idea voltage wise - my rule of thumb is 7.7 -7.6 on the ecu and 7.5 on the Lion.
You never know though until the inevitable until you have a bad cell or false charge..

Hi Guys,
I saw that duralite is running a special just now on its 4 cell li-ion rx packs where you get a rx pack, charger, load tester and regulator (5.3v or 6v) all for $195.. Is this a good deal for jets?
Do any of you guys run duralite? WHich regulator should you go for with JR Servos and receiver 5.3 or 6 volts?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Dave
oh and it's www.duralitebatteries.com
