I'd like to hear some real-world data regarding TITAN/160 fuel usage.
How long are are your flight times on what size tank???
I'm building a Boomer XL w/ a 1 gallon tank. How long might I fly at mixed power settings and still land w/ sensible reserves?
thanks !!

My F-18 has a Titan and has 110 oz on board. After about 5.5 min at full throttle, the main tank is still 1/2 full. I don't know the capacity of each tank, but the main tank is very large..........maybe 8" long 6" at it's widest point and about 7" tall. If I am conservative with the throrrle, I won't even touch the main tank.

Will you use a hopper so you can use all the main tank?
With a US gallon 3.9ltrs and a Bommerang at mixed power expect 9-10 minutes

This is my procedure when testing fuel usage for a new plane / engine combo.
Set you timer to something safe, say 5 minutes. I like to use the Futaba function where the timer is 'on' only when the throttle stick is above a programmed percentage. I usually use slightly above idle. (Not sure if you can do it in JR).
Flight your typical style..
After landing, if you can't see the fuel level, take out all the remaining fuel into a separate vessel. I 50oz dubro tank works nicely. Take note how much was left. If enough, add 1 or 1.5 minutes to your timer. Keep doing it, until you only have enough to make you fell comfortable as reserve. It may take a few flights, but should get you there safely.

Hey bud!!!---As per our conversation earlier you spoke of possibly turning the Titan down in power as the Big Boomer really doesn't need the Titan's full blow---A P-120 will fly her fine...If you set your Titan down to P-120 specs you can expect even better fuel economy...

Good points, both of you. I imagine that my throttle use will be VERY conservative for a while but wanted to get some ball-park estimates to ensure that I have enough tank installed from the get-go.
Kevin, you coming to MEM tomorrow? Last I heard Ed is flying and I hope to join him.........

Trust me---You have plenty of capacity at one gallon of fuel....Ed has one gallon capacity in his EuroSport and he uses a lot more throttle/fuel with his EuroSport than you would with your Big Boomer----The Euro being as draggy and heavy as it is...
Can't make it to Mempho tomorrow as I have to work...[:@]...Working 6 days a week is getting tiresome and then trying to get some quality family time in on the day off is horning in on my flying time...
Let me know how tomorrows flying goes...[sm=thumbs_up.gif]

I've had a JetCat P120, and now a Jetcat P160 in my BoomerangXL.
I used a 3litre tank with the 120 and I got 10 minutes safely taxi to taxi, with a 'safe' reserve.
I've now gone to a 4litre for the 160 and I get about the same 10 minutes safely taxi to taxi, with a 'safe' reserve.
Hmmm I must remember to springload my throttle stick!
By the way, there's not a great deal of difference speed wise between the 120 & 160 (my XL did 314km/h in a speedrun a couple of weeks ago) but the 160 gets you there quicker, and is great for verticals. That being said, I've heard successful stories using an 18lb Wren Supersport!
Cheers from New Zealand.
