Futaba Radio Jet Users Questions

I am currently building a Yellow F-15 and need some advice on Radio equipment.
I am a Futaba user and have always been one. I currently own a 9ZAP with a number of Synthisized receivers. My question is what Futaba Tx, Rx, and servos are most Futaba users using in their Jets? What are the Futaba servo's that are equal to the JR 8411's. What seems to be the consensus on Futaba's new 2.4 radios versus the new 14 channel PCM's?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I am currently using the Super 9C in my Tam F-16. I am using Hitec servos, all digital and NiMH batts. I love my setup, everything works great!! I have been thinking of going to the 2.4 systems, but then I would have to change all my other planes that I use my 9C for and I am not ready to fork out that much cash!!

I am using the 9155 digital servos in my Flash. The stab servo pockets are limited to a servo no larger than the 8411, and the 9155 fit. Beware that some Futaba servos should only be run on a 4.8 volt system, so I buy servos that can handle 6.0V. Futaba servos specs tell which voltage can be used. I use dual 6.0V batteries and no regulators.
I have found only 1 issue with a futaba servo in my jets. The analog, but powerful 3305 does not center consistantly, and shows higher than usual amperage draw around center (I've checked 6 of them). Free or disconnected linkage does not seem to matter. This is likely the reason Futaba does not recommend that servo in airplanes.
I have converted all prop planes including giant scale gas to FASST 2.4. No issues so far. I am running 72 mhz synthesized 9C Tx and synthesized Rx in my 2 jets. I am waiting for the larger 2.4 receivers and modules then I will convert the jets to FASST as well.

Hi
I use a Futaba 9CAP...spot on radio no problems at all.
I use a mix of servos including hitec with no issues.
129 and 149 rx.
The FASST system works perfectly so far, i am waiting for the high channel systems before putting it into a jet.
The testing i have done in FASST is documented on this thread.

In My Yellow F-15 I use a 9z with a 149 receiver and JR Servos with no problems. I'll wait on 2.4 GHz for a while be for I decide whose system works best in the real world and not just in the world of advertisement hype.

Yes, that is why i have been doing the testing on the FASST system.
All indications are that it performs perfectly, without the need for extra rx's or special setups. (as you can see from the tests)
It i strange when you install it, you just look at the aerials and think 'this can not be enough'[X(]
But so far i can not fail it.
Just waiting for the 12 in the UK to test it in a jet.

Hi,
I am a very satisfied futaba user for 18 yers now, but .... I dont like the futaba digital servo's due to the slack in the gears. As a result I use the graupner digitals like 8231 and 8311 and loving the combination. Just my 2 cents.
Cheers,
Mick.

Same-O as GrayUK (post #7). With the exception of one problem child, my R149 rcvrs have all been solid as a rock. The airframe the 149 problem child is in will get a 2.4GHz (FUTL8952) "upgrade" when it becomes available here in the US.

My current planes (jets) are setup as follows:
Futaba 14mz, 5114 rx's, 9155's, 9405 for steering, occasionally 9206 for flaps, and 3102's for mechanical valves and such. Need a big dog servo for say a Kingcat ele? Try the 9156. I run Duralites at 6volts. I used to fly jets on the 9z which required matchbox's and such. With the 14 you just plug 'em up and go, its great!

Quick note to thank everyone that replied to my question. From everything I can gather what I really want is not yet available from Futaba and that is a 12FZ FASST Radio!! For now I may use my 9ZAP with JR servo's and Duralite LiPo batteries and switches.

I am know moving to the 14mz...
