Default Regards from Italy

Ali is just visiting Italy.
he just called me to warn me that just like me he purchased a Fire supressor on jetpower.
the thing was allready ARMED with a 6mm blank wich we both did not now.
the co2 cartridge was not even connected and that was the danger , it acts just like a gun.
i "shot" my rack with airbottles , had my fingers black from gunpowder last night.
it had allready been loaded without a single warning.
offcourse as inventive we are we play with the servo actuator ..

Ali had it worse.....
he managed to blow out his windows from his Mercedes van whilst driving....[:-][:-].
he asked me friendly to call up the guy in germany , and start my best cursing in german i could think off...
to bad they did not answer the phone there...
all are ok , and Ali is currently changing the windows at a local italian MB Dealer.
i hope he does not have to pay some "protection" money

Just when I thought nothing could possibly go wrong for him it did!
It's ok to laugh about it now but we all know it could have been highly dangerous[X(]! The manufacturers need to be contacted immediately!
Thats where Sandor comes in

Sandor, any discount on the air bottles?

I saw this unit in Jetpower. Forgot to check with the manufacturer, but was wondering how effective it can be? After all, its a small CO2 bottle and sometimes our fires are big[:@]

well i think this thing is higly illegal
secondly you caqn put a life round in that barrell
secondly it does not make sense to have a flame come out to ignite a co2 cylinder.
the manufacturer should have take out the round in the first place , we can laugh now.
the same happened to me , luckely i pointed thing away from me.
we could have easely lost a eye or something
here is the hidden cartridge

so A is the trigger
B contains a 6mm Blank cartridge
c is the co2 container

i thought a would just pop a pin inside the cartridge to go off , however they use a explosive to trigger the co2.
funny when your fuselage is full of vapours....

A few years ago they used to make on-board fire extinguisher in a glass container of about 6" long by 1/4" diameter. If there was a fire onboard the glass broke and the CO2 released. I believe a British manufacturer used to make these. Haven't heard of their availability for some time. Could be a better solution than a bullett.

i used to sell these years ago, they were a low melting point plastic tube with liquid Halon inside, when the pipe got hot, it would burst at the point of heat so all the gas was directed at the heat sorce. they worked well and i sold a couple of hundred of them, then they banned Halon!! so it died a death

Not a fire expert.....can't they be filled with CO2 instead. If Halon was more effective couldn't they just lengthen it to contain more CO2? Just asking as I do not know the repercussions of this but it surely was an effective system.

im guessing here, but i think it was to do with stability of pressure, co2 pressure changes considerably with temperature, and the tubes have to run close to their burst point to work. with a bit of reworking they could probably be made to work

I don't know if Bertella is involved but on the last Jetpower magazine this CO2 fire extinguisher is announced to be a Hawe Modellbau product... nothing to be seen on their homepage though... http://hawe-modellbau.de/
I too saw it on display at the jetpower show but I don't remember in whose stand.
Ciao,
Mauri
