Jim,

You have opened up a crap-storm, so ready yourself.

I personally use Spektrum 2.4, and have not had any problems. I am comfortable saying that Spektrum is the market leader in terms of the amount of people using them.

I'm using the Spektrum module in a JR 10X, AR 9000 RX with one remote. About 25 flights with no issues in my jet.

DX7 with AR9000 RX using 2 remotes and the monitor in a TitanSE powered KingCat. Dual 5 cell 2000Mah NiMh packs thru 2 switch harnesses directly into the RX. NO REGULATORS. 60 perfect flights. Rock solid! Never any frames lost and of course, no holds. Average less than 60 fades per antenna.

Jim,

You have opened up a crap-storm, so ready yourself.
The JR/Horizon/Spektrum reps only participate in these forums for support, you will never see them get into it with anyone.
I think you will find customers posting their true experiences here, and offer some very good feedback for those who are considering switching to 2.4 Ghz.

I am using Extreme power systems in all my jets & it is working perfectly. I did have a problem early on, but it turned out to be a bad cell in a battery pack.

I have a friend who has had nothing but trouble with his Spektrum set ups. For no apparent reason the servos go backwards & forwards from one extreme to the other, with no input from the Tx.

Does the DX7 with the AR 7000 have enogh channels for the Elan? if so, what is the best way to hook things up. Or should I just buy a module for my 10x. In any case, can someone please post some good ideas for radio install. Any advice would be appreciated.

thanks, Luis

get the module system and the 9000
you have 9 channels to use
you can then als activate both valves for the jet-1a LG

We're still waiting for the full line of Futaba equipment. I have a 6EX we've been testing and it works great. I also have a Futaba 7 channel module/RX on the way from Tower. We'll test it extensively in some prop planes and then move it to the jets. Finally, if all is OK,a new 12 channel Futaba will be procured

From what I've seen, it will be worth the wait, and it may be that by the spring, Futaba will have the only 12 & 14 channel 2.4 GHz radios on the market...

No probs on my 10X module -R9000 w/ one remote. 15 flawless flights on my bandit HOWEVER..........

I have experienced issues when switching back and forth from 72 mhz to the spektrum module on my 10X.

EXAMPLE. Fly 72 Mhz with my another jet and then go fly my bandit on spektrum - switching the module, modulation and model selection on my 10x - it reverses the al, rud and elv.

I have been told there is a way to modify this, but have not been able to achieve this yet.

Any suggestions are welcome.

I have had nothing but ISSUES with the AR9000, since I purchased it, last January. Even Last Sunday at the field, as soon as I would switch on, all the surfaces would jitter and dance around (just like interference on PPM modules does), gear retracting and collapsing etc, etc.

I have changed receivers (I bought new ones at Jetpower), changed remote receivers, even whole module/receiver packages. I tried the system with my PCM10X as well as my Graupner MX22. Same results. The monitor would show 576 frames lost in less than two seconds.

I purchased an XPS system, which I am installing in tonight and will see what it does tomorrow. I know Jascat has had ZERO issues with it in his PCM9, so I'll give it a try.

In saying that, I have a DX7 in my electric airplane which has been totally successful.

Unfortunately, a reported success here or failure there is not much more than anecdotal data. A broad and accurate survey sure would be nice, but that ain't gonna happen. I installed an AR9000 module in my jet (9303 transmitter) with two remote antennas and it has performed acceptably well since installation about 6 flights ago. I know this for sure - I get far fewer fades if the transmitter antenna is oriented vertically, FWIW.

I am using a Futaba FASST 7ch module in my FF9c, in a Hanger 9 Funtana 90, with no problems at all, so far. I am only using a 4cell, 1100mah nicad for RX power with all digital servos, & have no issues with it. But I will need a lot more, trouble free, flights to convince me to committ it to jet power. Then I will consider the Futaba 12, on 2.4Ghz, rather than the add on module system. Ray.
