G20 with which plane?

Probably a dumb question that is subject to ones own opinion but I am going to ask anyway.
I am building a Hangar 9 Sowith Camel and I am putting a Zenoah G20 up front.
I have also been looking at an WW2 warbird or aerobatic type plane for the G20 for a future project
What kits will the engine fit in nicely. Was looking at the Hangar 9 Showtime 90 for one. Possiblt the Haagar 9 Musting 1.50 (G20 probably too small?) Was just curious as to what manufacturer/planes this engine would suit. I do see a lot of planes for 23-26cc gassers, but not many for 20cc gassers.

The G20 will fly any of the available 90 size models and quite a few of the 1.20 size depending on the finished weight. Consider 10.5 lbs as the weight limit for satisfactory aerobatic performance. Some other models that readily come to mind are the Funtanna 100, Big Stick 60, Ultra Lite Stick, Seagull Yak, Goldberg 68" Exrtra or Sukhoi, Ace 4-60 or one of the many available Cub type models.

Karol is right !!! 10lb plane max
motor has 11 lbs of thrust
Friend of mine has a 20cc in the Funtana 100 and it will
hover and NOT pull out..
Installing a CRRC 26ei in the plane now...

I have my G20 installed on a World Model Super Sport Senior and it flies beautifully. The only problem is the protrusion of the carburator and muffler on both sides of the cowling.

Hey all
Thanks for all the posts :-) Nowinkk jits the nail on the head. The engine will fit in many planes I am sure but I don't want to cut away to much of the cowl. On the Sopwith Camel you also need to cut a way a lot of cowl real estate. Luckily at the bottom so it's not too noticable in flight.

The G-20 is an amazing little motor. A couple of years ago, I built a Phaeton 90 and fitted it with a whacker conversion. It was fun and provided adequate realistic power for the low wing loading of this plane. Recently the magneto ignition cratered and faced with putting electronic on a motor that suffered for power, the plane was fitted with my 2nd G-20.
Because I'd cut the fire wall short for the heavy whacker conversion, 12 oz of weight were needed with the G20 and the Phaeton is covered with fabric. The 11-12 lb plane weighs 13.25 lbs yet flies pretty well with the G20. Karol is right however, the unlimited vertical limit is right at 10 lbs for the G20.
My simple point is that the G20 will fly some heavier planes considering what the flight goals are. The G20 is an excellent match for the Phaeton 90 and provides power for very large loops and outside maneuvers even on my too heavy Phaeton.

hey guys.
Been browsing through the hangar 9 catalogue and I see that the Spitfire 60's selection of engines includes the G20.
Anyone ever put that engine into that Spittie?

I'm also looking for a plane for one of my G-20s. The Ultrastick Lite it was on perched herself in a tree top recently destroying the wing. It was just over a year old with many many flights and had become my favorite plane in the hanger so I'd add it back to the short list if it were not that the fuselage is repairable and the ailerons and flaps all survived so a wing can be scratch built without too much effort. No wing seems to be available from Horizon. Other projects are stacked ahead however and I've been a little keen to have the G20 in a Hellcat or AT-6.
I've looked at the 90 size CMP Hellcat but haven't yet noted an AT-6 match. Any one flying a G-20 in a Hellcat or AT-6 and have any recommendations?

Sorry to hear of the demise of your USL, but hopefully you will have her back and flying one day soon. I have a friend with a G20 powered Hell Cat that he says it's a really nice flying model.

Aa5by I am flying a crrc26 in my cmp texan with great performance and my buddy has a cmp corsair with the crrc engine in it and it looks and sounds great on those low passes. The Z 20 does not put out enough power but cost a lot more than the crrc. The 26 swings a 16/8 prop at around 8000.
