I have a Zenoah G 45 that's currently in a 33% Great Planes Pitts. I'm thinking about retiring that airplane, and wondering what I should do with the engine and other gear. All suggestions welcome. It has to be an arf, though, becuase I have little ones at home (no time). Also, I fly on a grass field so anyting with retracts would probably not be ideal.
Those criteria probably limit my selection quite a bit, but neither of those criteria will be changing anytime soon.
Suggestions?

You would love the way the Sig Sukhoi flies with a G-45.......the guru's at our field wouldn't leave my plane alone. The only drawback the plane has/had (this was seven years ago) is it has a one piece wing.

That was the only downside to my nice flying Midwest Extra 300 with a G45, that long 80" one piece wing. Really old school thinking by today's standards.

I remember that Midwest Extra kit......two guys at our field had them. One with a Moki 210 and the other with a G-45. A great flying plane

Hey Bosch,
I'm installing my g45 on a Midwest Extra 300XS, this will be my first gasser. I can't wait to finish it, another two weeks and I should be there. I picked up a thread here on the Extra 300, there's allot of good information in it, the guy's doing a kit build.
Good luck on your choice.

...sadly, the G45 and G62 come out so close in weight and dimensions once Ralph is done with em, the only reason to go with the 45 is to keep from having too much power and ripping some wings off, thus the throttle stick!!!

Agree about the G45 and G62 being so similar in size and weight, before or after conversion .... but the 45 is a sweetheart of an engine. Runs much smoother than the larger 62 thumper at any throttle setting. I wouldn't go out and buy a new 45 but I sure wouldn't sell one if I already had it. Would find the right home for it as this thread suggests. 80" warbirds would seem to be an excellent home for a lonesome G45.
