Default Sachs A&M ignition timing

I have a 3.2 Sachs A&M equipped with a C&H electronic ignition. The plastic ring that holds the magnetic pickup has worked it's way loose and rotated. Now I need to know where the pickup should be located so the engine is timed properly.
I currently have it located in the twelve o'clock position and the engine seems to run OK, but I am not sure it is timed properly. I would appreciate it if someone can tell me, using the clock face method (12 o'clock being straight up in line with the cylinder) where the pickup should be located.
Thanks in advance,
doubledee

You don't time an engine based upon a clock position. They are timed based upon a sensor position referenced to piston top dead center. In your case it will be 28-30 degrees before top dead center. Go to [link]http://www.ch-ignitions.com[/link] and down load the instructions for ignition timing.

I know about using a timing wheel, I was just looking for a quick and dirty fix. I thought if I could find out where the mag pickup was located in reference to a clock face I could get it close without going through the hassle of a "formal" timing procedure.

On mine when the piston is at TDC,the magnet in the hub and the hall sensor are lined up or another way of putting it is the at TDC,the hallsensor should be right above the magnet when the throttle is closed. When i look at mine from the from at TDC the magnet and hall sensor are lined up but there both about 1/8th of an inch to the left of 12.00.If this doesnt help let me know and ill send ya a pic or post one here.If ya want to try to advance it a little just adjust your linkage so you move the hall sensor to the right of the magnet. But only turn the ball link 1 turn at a time. Then try, doesnt take much to change the degree setting.
