I purchased their new Multi-pro intelligent balance charger and I have to say, NEVER AGAIN will I ever buy a Losi product in my life. I have never bought anything that gave me such headache and problems.
First I ordered it and its instructions are HORRIBLE the display screen is really buggy, it has numbers mixed with letters and code words that you have to look in the book to see what of the BILLION errors that your bound to run into. First problem, its cost and it DID NOT come with a power source, thats right, I was expected to find a 11+v 5+amp power source without a local hobby shop. Sucks to be me, I had to order over night delievery (that took a week to arrive) and STILL I get non-stop problems.
I called customer care and they looked through the instruction manual and didn't know what was going on, completely clueless.
I will never, ever buy losi again. I suggest you avoid them too.

Man, I love my Losi cars and trucks, but I have to agree, their electronics are JUNK. The Xcelerin system is a joke, the chargers are crap and the batteries are over priced paper weights. I bought a complete 8ight E a while back. I got nothing but Losi brand stuff, the car, electronics, battery, charger, everything. The charger leads fell apart, it wouldn't balance. The battery worked ok for a while, then started puffing. I had to remove it from teh hard case to fix it, then was too scared of it to put it back! Good thing I didn't, 2 of the 4 cells puffed, the Xcelerin broke 6 times! The customer service is great, but they need to FIRE the guy that decided to use the JUNK they've been selling as Losi electronics.

I went on the webiste and nowhere does it mention that it needs a seperate power supply... It is just a rebadged B6 charger that is common from china.. I have one and it works very well... the strange symbols you are getting happen on mine occasionally.. they look like chinese writing mixed with english.. what I've done is unplug the charger and plug it back into the power supply.. don't power up the charger with the batteries connected, or plug in the charger lead first.. power up charger to power supply, plug in balance taps then plug in discharge leads(the larger wires).. when I follow these steps the charger works great.. I won't tell you what I paid from Hobbycity for mine with the power supply.... I've seen the losi charger on horizons website and I can't believe what they charge for it... One thing about this charger is that it works well when you finally get the bugs out of it... I've checked the voltages against several other methods and it balances fine.. for the price I can't complain... Its not surprising that Losi can't figure out the charger.. .they didn't make it... almost forgot... the chinese original one comes with a manual that is not good, but it does explain basic charger functions... I guess whoever translated the manual gave it their best shot...

An ICE is a great charger, it just doesn't balance. Nothing replaces a good balancing charger, it's just too easy to use rather than charging and then balancing. Look at this one:
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...alance/Charger

This charger will charge ANYTHING. It balances, and charges at the same time. I have one, and it replaced several of my other chargers. When I used to carry 3 chargers, now I need only this one.

Losi electronics do suck, and the hobbycity and Losi charger look the same, but you are going to remember them by 1 charger? Buy a product that Losi has actually put R&D into, with the charger do you think losi actually designed it?

I have to agree that you can't decide the merits of an entire company based on one product. Yes, their electronics suck and shame on them for putting their name on such crap.... but their vehicles are well designed and built.
As for chargers, I've been using lipos in helicopters for years before they got really popular in cars and just got used to the fact that Thunder Power makes some of the best in the business. The TP610C is a great mid level charger but the TP1010C is their flagship.
I also PREFER chargers without built in power supplies, when you start to bundle things in then you get more complicated with more things that can break down. Besides, if you look at the good power supplies out there they are a good size and weight... makes you wonder how good the one in your charger is when that charger is the same size as mine that doesn't have a PSU in it.

Im curious how many of you actually own the charger in question, other then the OP.
I have the (hobbycity) 5, which Ive had for over a year, and the 6. Yes they seem to be the same as the Losi charger.
These chargers are great, just buy them from hobbycity and save a few bucks.
Seems this charger is to confusing for the OP, thats the problem here, not the charger.
I can walk you through how to use it you want.
power on
scroll to lipo
push start
scroll again to bal lipo
set amps to whatever your battery is
plug in battery and BALANCE lead
push and hold start
once it verifys you have it set for the cell count
push start
You should be charging
I will try to help you if you can be calm, want step by step pics? Otherwise, continue the flame fest.
btw - the charger in the photo works the same as the one the OP has, same menu style etc.....
He needs a super simple one.

I have 2 chargers for my batteries: a CellPro 10S and a iCharger 106B+
Didn't take long for me to start kicking myself after I used the 106b. It's tiny and really has great fuctions built into it and great available power output if you need it. The only thing my Cellpro has going for it is that it reads out to .001 on the cell voltage, and it can handle two 5s lipos and balance them together. I guess being able to charge directly and only through the balance port is also nice, but I hardly ever use it.

I agree with the fact that losi electronics are garbage. All of the electronics in the above mentioned mini-t died within 2 years. Also I bought a losi mini "peak" charger. It does charge packs well, a bit too well. Although it switches to trickle charge when it senses the pack is almost done, it doesn't stop charging. Not realising that, I left a good battery of mine on a bit too long and it kept charging 'til the pack exploded. Not my idea of a good peak charger...[:@]

I'm going to have to disagree there. The drag link on my mini-t came mounted on the threaded portions of the screws so when it steered the threads would slowly chew away at the plastic which increased slop. I don't find that design very well thought out. Not only that ,but the oil shocks use a weird design in which the ''O'' rings that seal the bottom of the shaft are enclosed in a ''cartridge''. This design: 1. doesn't allow the o rings to be adjusted to stop leaking 2. if they wear out, and losi discontinued the car and support, the shocks are worthless. You can't just scrounge up new o rings.[:'(]

I just picked up a 1/10th scale 4800kv combo from them. Haven't ran it yet I hope it doesn't go poof, if I would have read up on it before doing the impulse buy in the LHS I wouldn't have bought one. I am praying i have no issues.

I second that about the Hyperion Line of chargers. I've had the EOS 5i which is the AC/DC version meaning that you don't need a separate power supply to get the darn thing to work. I feel your pain man, but you really should have done a bit more research before making such an expensive purchase. You won't be disappointed with Hyperion, as the quality and structure of the unit is solidly built and very user friendly. i have no doubts that Losi re branded an already existing charger and then charged twice as much because they're LOSI and whatever has their name on it is gold, lol not. Re branding in this hobby is getting way out of hand, as you will find that for instance the same brushless motor used by 3 or 4 companies and the only difference is the decals or maybe the color of the motor can. It's not difficult to recognize the same qualities if you examine it closely enough, however they will try to trick the consumer by putting the photos at different angles from each of the companies. Your getting the same performance, but the price range always varies and is mainly priced higher by the companies that everyone recognizes the most. That's business for ya, and it's not just an R/C problem either.
I agree with what one of the other guys that said in this thread that Losi vehicles are good quality and used by many but apparently their electronics are piss poor.

I'm on my second 1/10 Losi esc and this one is now acting up as well. My trusty mamba keeps on roostin'. I've had good luck with the motor though. I use the 4800 with the Mamba, works great.
