Default Rustler conv. to 4WD?

Hey guys,

My first post! Hi to all...I hope I'm in the right forum??

Is it possible to convert a Rustler to 4WD? I want something I can run in the snow, mud, and water. Not sure where to start. I like the ERevo, EMaxx, 1/16th ERevo vxl, Slash 1/16th vxl and the Slash 4x4 (yet to come out). I won't be racing, just bashing and jumps and maybe goofing around on a homemade dirt track.
I don't want anything that isn't waterproof outta the box.

Anybody got some ideas here? This is my first RC and I won't be able to afford anything else for a long time.
Thanks guys,

K

I'm sure it would possible with VERY heavy modding and making many custom parts.
I mean, anything is possible. But this would be very hard.

it would be like totally redesigning the whole car. Can be done, but a lot of work.

You will need some patience, and an imagination to convert the rustler to 4wd. There are no factory hop up parts that make this possible. this will rely on your engineereing skills.

Not to mention that when all is said and done it'll probably be cheaper to just buy a 4WD truck.

^ All truths.  That's gonna require lots of modding, lots of time and substantial fundage.

Building a 4x4 rustler would be a very arduous task, the layout of the chassis doesn't easily lend itself to the requirements of 4x4. For your purposes the 4x4 slash looks good as it is just about the closest thing to a 4x4 rustler you're going to get, if you're patient wait for a review of it, if not go ahead and pre-order one.

I built one a while back. Its a relatively simple job. It requires two custom pieces made from aluminum plate and the modification of 3 pieces. I made mine for the price of my Stampede plus a Rustler roller ($40 Ebay) and motors. The body and tires were things I had laying around. I can probably give you templates to print out and glue to metal if you want to follow what I did. You will need a good battery pack, a heavy duty ESC, and matching motors. I had the first two so cost was minimal.

If I wanted another 4x4 stadium truck I would wait for the 4x4 Slash and stick some Masher 2000s and a truck body on it.
