Bob, I installed a PowerExpander and Super Regulator into my existing 35% Extra that I have flown for a year with no problems. Everything worked great on the bench in the shop. I adjusted the output voltage to 6.05 v and I thought everything was cool. Yesterday at the field I flew one 10 minute flight because after 10 minutes my throttle went into fail safe. I landed. Immediately checked the loaded (1 amp) battery voltage which was 7.60 volts.
I let the plane (and me) cool off for about 30 minutes then tried to fly again. This time the controls acted like they were not getting power. Tonight in the shop I measure the output voltage on one of the re/black/white leads and got 4.76 volts! I also measured the output voltage on the ailerons and got 5.76 volts. The output voltage should have been the 6.05 volts!! Loaded battery voltage was the same 7.60 volts as yesterday.
I tried to adjust the output voltage up to 6.05 but it would only go to 5.91 volts. When I hooked up my test lead to an aileron output slot and turned the airplane and TX on, the voltage went crazy!! It was alll over the place!!
What has happened? Have both units gone bad? Should I send them back to you for replacement/and or checkup?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Bobby

Hi Bobby,
I really don't know what could be happening. I am pretty sure if anything is wrong its just the SuperReg but I can send you both units. What kind of PowerExpander is this?

Thank you for the quick response. It is the PowerExpander Pro for a JR 10 ch R2000 receiver. The regulator is a Super Regulator. I will return the units so you can inspect them upon receipt of the new ones.
My address is 640 Lakeside Dr., Vicksburg, MS 39180
Thanks again.

Hi Bobby,
I am out of the PowerExpander Pro right now, we are just starting to build them. I can send you a SuperReg immediately. I am going to Joe Nall so I will not be able to get you a Pro until I get back.

Okay Bob. At least that will give me a chance to see if it is the regulator or the PowerExpander Pro that is at fault.
Thank you.

Robert, well I changed out the regulator and - same problem. It looks like the PowerExpander Pro "gave up the ghost" so so speak. Please send me a replacement PowerExpander Pro when you have one. I will return the replacement regulaor and old PowerExpander Pro once I receive the replacement.
Thanks for responding.

Robert, how did the Joe Nall go? It looked like there were 5000 people in attendance!! BTW, I need to get my Extra up and running again. When do you anticipate receipt of more PowerExpander Pros to arrive?

Hi Bobby,
It was very good for me as I sold out of everything and had to take orders to ship when I got home. It was very crazy. Never seen anything like it.
I just got the PCBs to start these so it will be about 2 weeks. I will know better in a couple days. I wish I had better news. Let me look around here.
I know I have one that works except for 1 output on 1 channel. That might hold you over.

Robert,
It was good to meet you at the Nall.
People were pulling you every which way so you may not remember.
I just want to thank you for a great product and thank you for your insite with using a IGN cut off and one switch for RX and IGN.

Robert, I received the replacement PowerExpander Pro and installed it - it works!! My original Super Regualr was okay so I will keep it. I will box up both the old PowerExpander Pro and the new Super Regulator and return them to you for credit to my account. I will probably send them out on Thursday so you should receive them next week.
Thanks for great customer support.

Hi Bobby,
I did receive it but I am so busy right now that I have not had time to look at it. I will try to get to it sometime this week.

Hi Bobby,
Yes, sorry I have been really busy. I don't know exactly what is wrong but when a load is applied the voltage into the unit drops quickly. One side can take about 2.4 amps until its too low and the other side can't take much more than a few hundred milliamps before it drops out.

Robert: so, the unit is defective? I suppose you can either credit my account or sent me a replacement unit since I already paid for the one you sent me to keep my plane going. Is that OK with you?

Hi Bobby,
Did you buy this from someone else? I don't have a record of you buying it from me. If so I will send you a new Pro.
