Default How many amps to charge battery?

I have an Aquacraft Pro-Fisherman that uses a 6 cell battery (7.2 v). To charge it, I use a Prophet Plus charger with the options of 1 amp, 2 amps, and 4 amps. How many amps should Iuse to charge it?

Default RE: How many amps to charge battery?

How many mah is the battery? If it is nimh multiply mah by 0.7 and charge at that ampage (rounded down to your chargers closest setting). If its nicd multiply mah by 0.9.

So a 2000mah nimh x 0.7= 1.4amps. Therefore charge at 1amp unless you can adjust charge rate to 1.4.

All the best

Thanks. It is Ni-MH, I'm not sure what the mAh is since the sticker melted off, but I'm guessing between 3300 and 4500, which would put it closest to 2 amps.

If you're not in a hurry charge as close 0.2 x capacity as possible.
