Default Help converting Aquacraft Rio Offshore to Brushless

I want to convert my Rio to brushless with as little mods as possible. I already have a charger capable up to a 4S LIPO so I would like to stay in line with that.

From what I have read I need to find a motor first then build around that. I think that I have found a motor that will fit in the existing mounts, coupler and cooling coil. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._Inrunner.html. Is this a good motor choice for this conversion or do I need to think more KV?

I would like to use the stock single battery mount across the transom if possible. What KV 3S LIPO would be suggested for a ballpark 8 minute run?

I know that a new ESC will be needed any suggestions as to specs if this motor is a good choice? I want more speed but reliability is also a consideration.

Thank you in advance for any help and advice you can provide to steer me in the right direction.

I know very little about boats other than kv x voltage should be close to 30k. So 4 cell not 3 would be good. Runtimes will depend on amp draw which will depend on prop?
Like said boats aren't my thing so anyone else replying please don't be too harsh!!

For something sem-fast and reliable I just converted to an 1800kv motor and aSeaking 180 version 2 ESCand am very pleased. This was for a 29" plastic hull running a 40mm 1.6 prop with run times near 10 mintues and decent speeds. When converting this project i based my specs on similar factory builtboats because reliabilitywas my main goal. Pick avessel similar to your goals and copy the driveline. I did go through several ESC before goingwiththe 180. After some help from Steve at Offshoreelectrics.com he set me straight about the math/conversions/kv/voltage and led me to the right ESC... Go above and beyond specs of the motor for reliability. Again, set a goal for the project, and since it doesnt sound like your trying to set any speed records, base the finished product on an exsisting successful product and adjust from there.
