Default Twin or single?

Have a spartan now I want a cat ,RC r/c has a twin cat RTR 31" or I can buy a 36" hull and build my own ,or by a black jack ,is a twin that much faster? On my buggies I just put a bigger motor but on boats you have to deal with the flex cable, that 31" RC r/c looks good ,any tips?
